is the ram 3200 showing in the total ram and just not letting you pick the xmp

#

dont expect xmp to work at all

#

i best gess is is it check chanel A1 for xmp then B1 and so on till it finds a xmp in the spd

#

one i dont recomend useing xmp in your case since mixed ram

#

2 best to manual set things

heady rover
#

for number 1, but it is possible to use xmp with mixed ram speeds right? just not recommended

hollow sand
heady rover
#

i guess but i just dont wanna mess around with the timings cause i might cause some issues

hollow sand
heady rover
#

damn

hollow sand
#

try swaping the sticks around

heady rover
#

i did though

#

its reading 3600 mhz and its showing 16gb

#

hold on let me restart

#

It's in dimm a1

#

And the other is in dimm b1

hollow sand
#

that correct

#

3200 cl22 thats the rated speed

#

its not a xmp bin its a jedec bin

#

jedec good xmp bad

heady rover
#

So it's good?

hollow sand
#

its acting like it shoud

heady rover
#

O

#

What abt the other one

hollow sand
#

the 3200 ram has no xmp

heady rover
#

Damn it said it had xmp in the packaging though

hollow sand
#

not being xmp is a good thing

heady rover
#

Ok but what abt the other one

#

Should. I manually adjust the speed

hollow sand
#

so you got this new ram for the GB

heady rover
#

Well

#

I mean

#

For both speed and gigabytes I guess

#

I was expecting for it to have xmp but yeah

#

What about the other ram, how should I adjust the speed manually

heady rover
#

Ok, just wanna ask one question, if I set the ram speed of the other ram (2666mhz) to 3200, and not adjust the cas latency and other stuff, would I be fine?

#

And would it be running the same performance or do I have to adjust the cl's

hollow sand
#

its messy

#

if you enable xmp your other ram may not be able do the same tcl

#

or trcd

#

1 off the 20+ timings

#

or it may not like the voltage of xmp

#

my advie is keep it at jedec speed and deal with it or go down the ram oc rabit hole

heady rover
#

Yeah that's the problem, when I reseated the 3200 MHz ram to dimm a1 and the 2666 MHz ram to dimm b1 it just removed all the xmp options

hollow sand
#

i dont recomend useing xmp

heady rover
#

So oc it is

hollow sand
#

1 of 2 options deal with jedec or maunal oc

#

but ram oc is a pain

heady rover
#

Can't I just adjust the speeds or both

hollow sand
#

well you can

heady rover
#

Would it Increase performance or Do i have to adjust timings

hollow sand
#

timing x mhz x other cpu thing=perfomice

#

just incresing mhz can make the ram timings very bad

heady rover
#

Damnn

#

It's so complicated

hollow sand
#

thats why i recomend to use jedec

heady rover
#

do u possibly know why its taking 3,0 gb hardware reserved instead of 2?
