#Dell OptiPlex 9020 GPU not working correctly *under load*
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I'm a video editor (1080/4k) and am going from someone who
“Plays games now and then”
To booting up my favorite to unwind after work!!!
I play basic-ish games,
Unturned, Minecraft, Trackmania, and a few others
The issue
While playing Trackmania for around 30 minutes, my screen went black oh!
The pc is still running and I have audio
And my display has power
Full restart and it's fine! The display is there and everything works!
But again, after 30 minutes in any game now it goes to a black screen
and I have to reboot to fix it
Well, now I'm thinking it overheated! The fan for the GPU died AGES ago and my idle temps are around 45c with load temps in the 80+c range
So i got a “fan”
(ignore my tinnitus from the Delta fan pointed at the GPU)
29c idle and 70-75c load, MUCH BETTER
But do you think it fixed it?
No.
playing unturned it crashed so hard that I had to re-download my GPU drivers to get the GPU to show up and task manager again!!!
And now I am here
under 20% load is fine and there's no crashing no block screen
any ideas?
(Specs, i7-4770, 32gb RAM, RX460-2GB)
Is it like this? I got the same issue if so
Video sending
hmmm is it only doing it under load?
also when i reboot its fine until under load again
Mid game my GPU stops randomly while PC still running and monitor goes black no signal
YES\
i have a rx 460.\
I tried to DDU but it still randomly doing that
ddu?
Display driver uninstaller
My GPU temps are 50c-60+ never going up to 90 or 70 in rdr2 and other games
i got my pc off amazon
the gpu fan died, i got a new fan and it **fixed **the temps haha delta
Did u changed thermal paste
I am running rdr2 again to see if it will happen
Here's my load
its only happening at more the 20% usage! any less and it is fine!!!
yeah my gpu just says XD at more then 20%
umm idk i did a CMOS reset and i have not had any black screen but i'll fully test tomoorow
not yet ust tested and it crashed
So CMOS resetting did not work?
Um so we determined the GPU to be dying.
I ran OCCT (CPU benchmark) and after 3 minutes there was no issue.
However running Furmark at 1080p crashed after I kid you not 2 seconds
I did successfully get it to run the benchmark at 720p
But the card was suffering.
I'm replacing it on the first and then I'll update you
Why did u ran cpu benchmark
Ok
Yo
I will update you on the 1st if you want to DM me then do so
My power supplies here, after work I'll be testing the new GPO
GPU*
so whats up
um so gpu def dead I've been playing Genshin Impact which is a **much ** heavier game than I usually play for about an hour now and it's not had any issues with the new GPU
im running
i7 - 4770
Radeon RX 5500 4GB
32GB - DDR3 RAM
Corsair RM750e (2023) Fully Modular Low-Noise PSU
so i found the issue
But I fixed it temporary by undrrvolting my gpu
I see you also got a good powerful card
I got it from my brother, he upgraded to a RTX 3060-ti so I got the RX 5500
I don't know if I'll upgrade it just cuz I'm currently building a computer and this computer was literally just to get me by while I built the main rig
So not quite sure about upgrades
Definitely storage
Maybe two 2 terabyte HDDS in raid 1? Just because I edit videos a bunch I don't want lost footage
But yes that video card handles pretty much everything I throw at it
Nice
late reply but you might as well get and nvme or an ssd for that 1tb storage cuz you dont want slow write and read speed while transferring ur vids to that hdd or while extracting sum like that
4th gen Intel does not officially support NVME connections so I might do two SATA SSDs instead
(of course, make sure to get them from different batches so that they don't die at the same time) and run them in raid 1, with my 3rd drive being google drive
so even if my house blows up i got mah data
