Hello. I need a little help from anyone with a firestick. I am considering getting one. I wanted to know if the firestick is off, can I cast(using Youtube or some other streaming service) and will that automatically switch the HDMI to the firestick?

Looks like the Firestick supports HDMI CEC, which means it can pass commands through to your TV, assuming the TV supports HDMI CEC as well. Note: Sometimes HDMI CEC is stupidly difficult for inexplicable reasons, so it doesn't always work.

Casting kinda sucks. You have to go through some hoops everytime instead of it being automatic. I would do for Chromecast tv if you want to cast. If it's once in a blue moon then fire stick is fine
