My current specs:
GPU - EVGA Geforce RTX 3070 8GB
CPU - Ryzen 5 5600x
Cpu cooler - Lian li galahad 240mm
RAM - 32GB 3600mhz 2x16 corsair vengeance pro
Motherboard - B550 Tomohawk MSI
PSU - 850W
Case - Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL Black
OS - Windows 11 pro

Storage:
M.2 Rocket Sabrent Q4 1TB - 5000MB/s R/W speed [OS]
M.2 Rocket Sabrent Q1 1TB - 3000MB/s R/W speed

I'm playing a lot of games in 1080p such as rust, Hogwarts legacy, battlefield and many other games. I've come to a conclusion that my specs seem to be old now for what im wanting. In rust sometimes my frames go as low as 40 - 60 fps in my base and in certain spots in the map. for a competitive player like me, i would like to play at a consistent 100+ fps. In Hogwarts legacy, I'm getting a lot of frame stutters and 15 fps in some cutscenes and 45 fps in a lot of the areas of the map.

Future build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/yMWFxH
GPU - ROG Strix 4080 16GB OC
CPU - Ryzen 7 7800x3d
Cpu cooler - NZXT Kraken elite 360 RGB
RAM - G.Skill tident 64GB DDR5-6000mhz CL30
Motherboard - Asus rog strix b650-A gaming wifi ATX AM5
PSU - Corsair RM1000x (2021) 1000W 80+ gold fully modular atx power supply
Case - NZXT H6 Flow RGB ATX mid tower case +

new storage: dont know yet,
Total - about $3000 British pounds

I've heard a lot of good things about the 7800x3d especially for rust, being able to see above 200+ frames easily with its cache. my plan would be to buy this new pc, build it myself and sell my old one to possibly a friend of mine.
I would like to hear your opinion on these specs and if I should make any changes. Also im not sure 100% sure if 16gb is a slight bottleneck or not, or if my cpu will keep cool enough with the cooler i have, if the ram is good because i know timings and latency is important for the ram but i dont know what to look out for. Also i have no idea if the motherboard is sufficient enough and if the PSU has enough watts.
Any help / reassurance is appreciated.

He wants a 4080 with a 7800x3d

#

his choice

#

do i agree with it?;

#

but its his money

Touché but if he’s gonna get a 4080, yeah just wait for the 4080 super or something

@viral prawn @placid tapir my gpu drivers are the latest, I don’t know about my bios drivers. Sometimes it’s around 90 but very often it will go down around 50 and it’s very annoying

#

And bee, what gpu do you suggest since you don’t think I should get a 4080

Your list is pretty shit though imo

Since honestly, they’re good graphics cards and unless you’re doing really heavy and demanding work that requires a higher end graphics card you don’t really need a 4080, I got the 16gb RTX 4060ti and it’s amazing, runs all the games I want and it handles Blender and other demanding softwares with ease (I also have a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU)

Dw, that was my requirements for a new GPU as well, as long as it’s a Nvidia GPU and better than a GT 1030 I didn’t care, lol

#

Haha true

#

I thought I would have needed a beefy gpu to go with the best cpu you know

#

You think so? How bad?

#

The cpu is kinda bad, I’ve noticed

#

Not really the performance I’m looking for

Hey, if you think a 3070 is bad, do you wants old PC that has an AMD 5 1400 and a GT 1030? It’s totally soooo fast bro (it broke using Blender)

#

Yeah, when I was checking the PC for viruses (I had to download a virus scanner) and I swear it took me over an hour

#

That PC couldn’t even open chrome 💀
