#does my i9-12900k bottleneck my 3060, and would a 4070ti be a better choice since I’m on budget

get a 7800xt around the same performance and much cheaper
Also use bottleneck calculator
Yeah
But we are in agreement that a 3060 is a bad choice to run with the cpu right
Yeah that cpu was meant for something like a 3080-3090 not a 3060
Yes but if your gaming it’s mainly the gpu doing the work so sett it to graphics heavy tasks
Fair yeah it says 0% possibility for gpu heavy tasks
but for general tasks it’s saying the cpu bottle necks
I don’t think that really matters if what I’m focusing on is gaming right
Yeah and basically any cpu will bottleneck a high end card in equal load since gpus get faster much quicker then cpus
no. stop it. get some help.
yeah cause bottleneck calculators are stupid in concept in the first place
12900k and 7800xt will be fine
Why it’s a good indicator even if it’s not 100% acurrate
Amazing ty gentlemen
hell, a 12900k and a 3060 will be fine
my 3060 has been wanting to put a gun to my head ever since I put the new cpu in today
especially if you play a lot of esports at 1080p
I’m trying to do graphics heavy stuff
For example gta graphics but modded out
and my 3060 ain’t having it
it's nowhere near the word accurate, it's really not how bottlenecks work. you can't measure it in percentages. an r5 5600 wouldnt bottleneck a 4090 in something like cyberpunk with maxed out RT at 4k.
but it will definitely be the bottleneck in something like CS2
it differs very very wildly and there's too many variables to dumb it down to one value and one answer
Would this be a good one to pickup?
i would really wait until the 4070super/ti super to actually come out
That one’s a bit expensive go for that xfx one from earlier
might see a few more price dips
I’m between these two but don’t know much abt the difference
When’s this
no difference usage wise, just looks
should be the end of this month
I’d wait but someone bought my 3060 for 300$ so I can’t last a month without a gpu lmao
Ty for the help guys, means a lot
Np
fair enough
I actually looked into it and it says the clock speeds are different
2400 vs 2600 for gpu clock speed
That is probably the bigger cooler or some factory oc
Yeah the gigabyte one is factory overclocked
Is it worth the extra 20$
No you can do it yourself
And its probably not a very big difference unless you want the absolute most fps
xfx looks better imo
Yeah I agree
it's not
modern boost algorithms means that they'll boost higher than what's stated
So basically just overclock if I reaaaaally want a tiny boost but otherwise it’s not worth unless I like the design more
and will clock almost exactly the same
For the price of the gigabyte you could get a red devil card which has RGB
either do gig for the year warranty or just pay for 3 years amazon warranty or get the rgb version devil card
And is slightly faster
that +1 year warranty is ass but i only had gigabyte as option when i bought my 4070
I rather do Amazon warranty bec they’ll just refund me if they mess up
Yeah go for which ever you like the design of the most
Does anyone know of vertical gpu mounts for mini cases
I’ve been trying to use one in my lian li mini case but they just don’t fit and mash with the motherboard
Can you send a picture of it?
Yea
that gigabyte warranty is ass you have to send the card to em
if you claim that +1 year and it breaks when you have that 1 year left
Whenever I put in the vert gpu mount it mashes against the top left of the motherboard
I need vert gpu mount for my 4070
How does it hit the top left?
and new case
sending pic
Something abt the vert mount has a piece that makes it so it doesn’t fit entire in the motherboard if that makes sense
Like it’s too long horizontally
it’s the Lian li vert mount
Do you possibly have a dremil or angle grinder?
Negative
It’s that black part sticking out
Maybe I’d need to buy one of these instead
Yep I just bought the wrong one lmao they have a special mount for the 011D mini case
I thought there was something wrong with that when it said 4 slot
I got mine at micro-center for like 75
You’re gonna spend less on fans unless you buy better ones ofc but it’s honestly not worth getting for airflow imo
Not really
I thinks it’s conversion
011D is like 140-200€
I have 4070 so it looks good vertical mounted
Send pic?
Im at school atm
Also it might not fit vertical if you go for a big one like the red devil or gigabyte since those are like 3slot cards
fyi gigglebit's warranty aint great
Going with the XFX
Has a cleaner look
Good idea
Isn’t that a 3 slot too
Anyways good night I need to sleep
Have a goodnight man thank you for the help
Yea
Yeah I’ve heard
And yes but a thinner 3 slot card
Not worth waiting 3 months for them to send it back when it’s repaired lmao
Xfx makes mad good looking cards
First time doing an amd
"repaired" more like physically damage the card some more, blame it on the customer, and reject the warranty
Hope they don’t disappoint lmao
thats why you take pictures of it before sending it
Yea it is
I probably gotta add an extra fan in the top left lmao
quick question abt my fan setups btw
all cards this gen are huge
3 intakes 5 exhausts
should I make top left an intake or
bec there’s nowhere to put my aio elsewhere
My temps never jump above 50c so it hasn’t been an issue for me but probably will become an issue with the new cpu and gpu coming in
bottom intake, side intake, top exhaust
probably wont be
that's a lot of fans
most PCs get cooled well just by 3 or 4
assuming good coolers on GPU and CPU of course
Yeah my old one was cooled by 3
I run new lian li v2 uni fans so it should be enough for now
Might not get a vertical gpu mount
and just get the merc instead since it’s basically the same as getting the other Xfx and a gpu mount
I paid almost 300$ for all of these
?????? you have a 6800xt????
So i need like 500€
No that’s from google
for some "upgrades"
oh
That looks mad good tho right
6800xt and 7800xt has the same exact featureset and performance
Yeah
What’s the price difference
Idk does 6800xt use more power
40-50 bucks
No it’s not. It’s just straight up wrong
It may give you a general idea of what you’d be looking at as far as utilization goes but it is wildly inaccurate as far as the percentages of bottlenecking your hardware one way or another. There’s always gonna be a botteneck in your system somewhere so tho you can take it with a pound of salt either way you go about it
Is the 6950xt a better choice for performance?
If you can find a good deal and dont care about the new feature of 7000 series
It’s between the 7900xt and 7800xt
They were going for a very good price but stock is drying up
You dont lose much in features, only AV1
Well it has better raytracing too but it’s pretty meh on amd either way
U think prices drop a little if I wait until the end of the month
