Sorry for the wall of text in advance, but I just completed my first PC build and I have no prior experience with amd products. Im using a ryzen 7 7800x3d and a rx 7900XT all inside a lian li mini glass case with all the rgb you can imagine. Currenly im getting between high 30c-40c idle temps for cpu and high 50s-high 70s while gaming. I believe it hit 80c at one point. The cpu temps do not seem to ever stay around a certain temp even while just browsing the internet / youtube videos. I feel like the temps fluctuate between the ratings I described continuously going from cool to warm in a cycle like. Is this normal and how the 7800x3d operates ?

Im using the NZXT Kraken 280 99.68 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler. My question and ill adds pics below from the manuals, is that the cable connecting to the AIO was a 3 pin pump connector which I connected to the AIO pump header instead of the CPU fan header. Was this the right move based on the manuals ? The mobo book stated water cooling kits connect the pump connector to the AIO pump header and the NZXT manual said either or CPU fan header or the AIO pump header. Regardless im using the NZXT cam software to be able to control the LCD screen info so within the app I selected the AIO fans and pump and set them to performance mode.

Should I turn PC off, unscrew the thumbscrews on the pump covering the CPU and "reseat" and screw down evenly ? Possibly replace the stock thermal paste from the AIO and put a better aftermarket thermal paste ? Or is this something that is totally normal and I just dont have the experience from the amd line of products im using. Will add photos below.

7800X3Ds are indeed hot. Check out hwmonitor if it throttles and how high it boosts. If it's inside the specs, you're fine. You can also compare cinebench scores with other 7800X3Ds if performance is generally okay.

On cinebench, do you test single or multi core?
