#FPS

Yooo I just posted the same question 14mins earlier lol we are wondering the same thing: https://discord.com/channels/375436620578684930/1179960732167712778
For some reason, both CPU and GPU utilization are very low, I have no idea how to get them to work harder for more fps
yeah my CPU and GPU are very low
i can barely keep 144 fps
I talked to some people on other discord server, and for my specific situation, it seems to be that my game is only using a small portion of my cpu (2 out of 8 cores), so my cpu utilization is low. Due to the cpu is only using a few cores and those few cores are not strong enough, the game also tells my gpu it doesn't need to work. as a result both cpu and gpu utilizations are low, and they cannot generate more fps like I wanted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
to sum it up, cpu is my bbttleneck and my game doesn't use much gpu, to get more fps i need a better cpu
@static hedge can you help me please, sir?
your playing a game at 1080p with a gpu thats more then capable
when your playing at low res and unlock your fps in a lite game your cpu usage will go up but gpu will not
idk
do you have vsync turned on by accident?
yea low res can bottle neck
like around 15%
what settings you playing fortnite at
everything is on low
wdym
whats your CPU utilization?
around like 30
20
its just my gpu is very low
if you run a lite game at low res your gpu will work less and your cpu will be the bottle neck
So if I understand correctly, for valorant, regardless of my cpu, the graphics settings only affect my GPU? if my GPU is only on 10-20% I can turn graphics a bit higher and not drop my fps at all?
ofc
but im not getting 144 period
get better cpu
your cpu is the bottleneck
to be more specific, the single core performance is poor
when gaming, your cpu gives your gpu a idea on what frame needs to be generated next, if you play at a low screen res, the work on the gpu will be less and your cpu will be stressing trying to give the gpu at many frame ideas as possable and yea, cpu bottle neck
but that really makes no sense
yes it dose
is there some setting you disabled allowing core boosting?
motherboard, ram, overclocking the cpu could play a part on this
yea
ryzen works better with high frequency ram
what specs your friend have
2600x + 2070super should have no issue running fortnite at 1080p performance settings at 144+ fps
^
its probably not a hardware issue
its all on low
i wqatched a ppro fornite player settings
send me a screen shot
thx
ok i put it to 180
make sure this is your power plan
in windows
press windows key and type in power plan should pop up
37 C
huh
uhhh go into nvidia controll panel and make sure gpu is set to max performance not power saver
i really dont know lol
if you have rivaturner installed from installing msi after burner check these are set to 0
dont need to set your settings to mine just set those 2 numbers to 0
is xmp enabled? what frequency is the ram running at
you can find ram frequency in task manager performance tab
yeha nothing works
i dont know what to do
i have to play fornite
reset bios maby
check if latest drivers
reset nvidia controll panel settings
make sure fortnite is installed on the ssd
yeha it isd
idk dont touch
is your gpu using a splitter power cable or 2 cables for power? also what power supply you got and whats your ram speed
splitter power
splitter bad
use 2 cables
💀 its recommended you dont use splitters with cards over 200 watts, big fire hazzard
You can check the single thread rating to give you an idea how powerful your cpu is. I really think the issue you have is on the cpu bottle necking the rest. If your friend has a same pc you might wanna just copy all settings he has, that include BIOS, windows, and in-game settings.
try opening fortnite with all other apps closed
ok going in game
lets see what happens
i pretty much have the same settings
misinformation
lol
whats happening
fridge asked about power supply and ram speed
how?
using a pigtail will just lead to insufficient power delivery (e.g limiting performance), not a fire lol
lol
what if i grabbed my self a rx 6900 xt and ran some fur mark on it for a good 20 hours with no case fans
while using a splitter
it would be choked of power and not perform as it should
it wont draw more than the cable is rated for and combust lol
find evidence of that
k
i literally have a 6950xt on a splitter 💀
overcurrent protection is also a thing
have you figured out what power supply you have? and what ram speed? try screenshot like this
so unless you have a 15 year old cheap chinese power supply, you're good.
well tbh its good practice to use 2 cables if your giving advice to a pc noob
yes you could use a splitter
sure its good practice, is it a fire hazard? no lol
is not if you have a fully airflowed case
the cable would be getting warm your fans blowing on the cable so makes it safe
STOP Doing This RIGHT NOW - It Kills GPUs
With GPUs like the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 drawing a crazy amount of power many people are reporting issues, and some of these issues may have to do with the power supply and cables being used to power these new GPUs.

FULL DISCLOSUR...
i am not the person saying that you should use 2 cables for gpus 57% of the pc community says that
we do not know what psu jip has
that is correct but some noob friendly user advice would be to use a splitter on any gpu that is over 200 watts, dont want to make it to complex for the end user that barely knows a thing and is probly building their first pc
im not a noob
