PC specs for curiosity:
CPU: Intel Core i9 13900K
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090 Founders Edition
RAM: Corsair Dominator 32GB DDR5 (not running XMP/overclocking)

Hey everyone. I've had this issue for nearly about 4 months now and recently just replaced the motherboard and that still didn't solve this ongoing issue:

I cannot play ANY game excluding Valorant (funny, right?), and Roblox surprisingly, tried launching CS2 (even with DX11): crashes back to desktop, tried Armored Core 6: crashes/not responding back to desktop. Any game you name: I cannot play it.

  • 4 months back I started having these issues occur, checked event viewer it all stated it was potentiallyfaulty RAM, so I swapped from my GSKILL TridentZ DDR5 RAM -> Corsair Dominator, issue persisted.
  • I swapped GPUs from a ASUS ROG Strix 3080ti -> FE 3090, issue persisted
  • I have now swapped on my motherboard from the ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme -> Aorus Elite X AX Z790, issue still persisted.
  • I have done DDU + reinstalled to the latest game ready drivers: same issue and error pops up in Event Viewer.
  • I have recently (as of 30 minutes ago prior to typing this) just tried creating a Windows Installation Media file thing to my USB only upon verifying files that the program crashes with the same error code.
  • It is worth mentioning I've had BSOD errors too such as KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED or even IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors

I'm starting to see reddit posts of other users with a similar issue who apparently had their issue fixed by just swapping out the CPU, all under AMD Ryzen chips.. nothing about Intel but I'm not against the idea of RMAing my 13900K.

I'm on the last stretch before I end up just giving up and building a whole new PC. I really don't want to nuke my OS either as I also have already done that and my PC is already barebones (all I have for a web browser is Edge, NZXT Cam, GoXLR app for my mixer + microphone and Valorant.)

Same here.

Overheating? Was happening to me with DBD specifically like last year and I was rocking a i7-9750

Most likely gonna try to let Intel know that if it's possible to get a replacement sent out ASAP because I do remote work

Can you please check if my problem matches with yours.

I met this issue before.

It's most likely not the same if your PC is crashing and restarting, and if you're crashing on Valorant

scarlet sun
#

I have warranty till 2026

#

I'm about to just gun it

next geyser
#

Could be, you just static pin the clockspeed.

#

And a voltage

scarlet sun
#

Never overclocked either

next geyser
#

I meant that's how you not bsod

scarlet sun
#

Huh?

next geyser
#

U static pin all the p cores e cores and cache at a certain speed and static pin the voltage and make sure it's stable

#

So it doesn't bsod

#

Rn the reason it might bsod is because single boost clock is too high for ur cpu to handle

#

Causing it to crash

#

For example the cpu want to boost a p core to 6 ghz and requested 1.4v.

#

But the core can't do that

#

And I crash

#

So let's bypass that by telling tthe p core to be at 5.8ghz all the time at 1.3v

#

And it won't crash anymore.

#

These number are just an example

#

I cna walk u thru if u want

#

U would need hwinfo64

#

A cpu stress test prob cinebench r23

#

And the ability to go into bios and type stuff

scarlet sun
#

It's pretty late right now so if possible I can do this in the morning to see, I've already sent in a request to Intel to RMA/get a replacement hopefully

#

I didn't really know much in depth about like this stuff and only assumed into was faulty RAM initially.

next geyser
#

OK. gl.

#

Yeah I met this problem a couple time helping my friends PC company

#

Which went under

#

💀

#

But 13900k, if u can get to 5.5ghz all P core u are not losing any performance

#

That's the max all core boost clock

#

Also it could be ram.

#

But u need to test with tm5

#

Test mem 5

#

Sorry for the alien language

scarlet sun
#

weeks ago

#

They weren't the issue

next geyser
#

Then it's cpu then

#

Should be an easy fix

#

Prob takes me 15mins + some stress testing

scarlet sun
#

Contacted intel support and they deemed as well the CPU was defective after numerous troubleshooting so I'll be getting a new replacement shipped to me. I'll keep the post updated just incase anyone else has had issues, also I assume if my CPU is sounding like this it's a bad thing right?

next geyser
#

Cpu itself doesn't make that sound

#

That's prob just the pump

#

Dude if u can get into bios I can prob make it work in 10 mins

#

But nvm u can rma it.

RMA'd/shipped my 13900K to intel

I wasn't gonna go a few days out without a PC so I went to best buy and bought the 13700K, gonna return it once my 13900K

Swapping the CPU out worked. I'm suspecting my ASUS Z790 maximus extreme is the culprit and may or may not have overvolted my CPU, so i'm sticking with my GIGABYTE motherboard moving forward

Nah

#

Gigabyte draws more power usually

#

It's just a really bad silicone lottery cpu
