I want to know if my motherboard uses the standoff screws as a grounding point, because it vibrates and makes a loud noise when the CPU fan speed increases. I am thinking of replacing the standoff screws with daming screws, but I have heard that some motherboards need the normal standoff screws for grounding and using dampening screws may cause problems.

My motherboard is a gigabyte AX370 gaming k7

You may want to clean off all the dust that has accumulated and double check the motherboard mounting first.

Considering you're still on X370, I wouldn't be surprised if the cooler has just gone bad over the years either.

The entire case is free of dust already, as I maintain my PC and clean it regularly. But I will check the mounting again. Thank you for the help anyway!

I'm just saying that it is quite unlikely for the motherboard mounting to be the source of the sound, so you would want to be sure before you start buying replacements.
