#Playing games causing pc to crash completely

#

It might be the ram

#

Most games run better with 16 gb

#

You could also try doing a fresh install of windows

open badge
#

Try putting the ran down to about 3600mhz or lower and see it it helps

#

Beam I completely fine with 8gbs of ram

#

Also try both renderers

#

Vulkan an dx11

floral pagoda
#

Is it only happening to beam

open badge
#

Read the post???

#

Seems like it

#

And it's not like beam to be completely unstable

#

@woeful lichen try vulkan mode, if that doesn't work boot up the game in safe+vulkan

#

Memory instability maybe

#

Is it in an xmp profile or custom?

#

And is the 6650xt the first gpu to be used in that pc? If it isn't did you ddu before getting drivers?

#

Go down to 1.5v

#

And just try run stock

#

I assume cl16-16-16-32 @3600

#

No. Just run stock

#

Xmp might make it shit itself more

#

Do that then

storm pecan
#

Run memory test
Run prime95

See if either spit errors

#

CPU overclocked or overheating?

#

screenshot task manager showing all resources

#

That message is saying you have no memory available

#

8GB of RAM total?

#

You have 250M remaining and the pagefile is over 80%

#

So beam.ng is failing to allocate a memory page

#

see what is using your memory right nw

#

interesting, taskmgr disagrees with how much is used.

#

There shuold be a page with more memory details

#

Close discord, steam or something else.

#

I think for now, 8GB = no game

#

windows generally doesn't handle low memory well

#

I'd look at every program running and see if you ened it running

#

And I'd want to know why 24GB of pagefile is in use

#

that is A LOT of pagefile

#

you can dig into that

#

process explroer

#

Boot safe mode, run prime95

#

does that run stable?

#

They look fine.

#

Is this safe mode?

#

If running XMP you should be OK. I think OCCT has a memory tester. Else memtest86 on a USB key.

#

but I'd test memory and CPU in safe mode

#

remove other variables

#

Revert to that then

#

If there are errors, go back to basics and work up from there slowly

#

So if full stock is fine, then try RAM timings. See if those are fine. etc

#

and use process explorer if you get high memory usage to see WHAT is causing it

#

24GB pagefile use still seems off

#

this was happening to me with beamng in 2021 with 16 gigs of ram i9 9900k 2060super. i switched to 32 gigs and it solved the problem

wind kelp
#

I had that problem with warzone and beamng. The other games like apex and overwatch played fine though. After switching to more ram I had no problems

#

I also had a problem in early 2021 where my i5 9600k was bottlenecking my gpu and I switched to the i9. Had no problems for almost a year then I had the problems again and switched the ram

#

Idk what die i have but its 3200 cl16

#

Dang yeah that sucks

#

Luckily it sounds like your upgrades will be pretty cheap especially with how cheap ram is

#

I'd do the ram first just incase that fixes your problems. Could save money if its just the ram

#

Nice nice

#

I spent like $150 on 32 gigs in 202/ early 2022

#

2021/2022*

#

Very nice

#

Well I'm going to bed but good luck

open badge
#

Decrease your page file

#

I've seen this before

#

It's a page file error usually

#

And it might be worth bu1yimg another stick of ram

#

@woeful lichen

#

I'd say even 4 more gbs of ram will do

fathom harness
#

You running an i3... God damn

#

That could be a issue?

open badge
#

Fair

#

Try to find another kit or a stick

#

Why 4400 tho?

#

Just get normal 3600 cl16

#

Ahh

#

Klevvs bolt series is good tbh

#

They're like 40 bucks for 16gb of 3200

#

Ye seems to be

#

Go ahead and get it but I wouldn't expect any higher than 3933mhz out of this

#

I'll be ocing normal uncovered dimms kek

#

Loke no heat spreader since they're a bit cheaper

#

Hope so

storm pecan
open badge
#

Increased it from 4096 to 6128mb and beamng acted similar like what's happening here

open badge
#

Google it

#

I only say that as I forgot how to

#

Change it to like 2048

#

Or 4096

#

How To Properly Set The Windows 11 Paging File

Virtual memory is a critical component that allows you to remove and store less often used changed pages from RAM to the hard drive. Your PC will prioritize RAM for the processes you use the most with this functionality enabled. This will help your computer run faster. Your system will not run out...

โ–ถ Play video
#

Try 2048 or 4096

#

You have to restart to apply it but I just wanna see if it works

#

Page file?????

#

What the fuck?

#

Wait 1- only page your c drive

#

2- 4096mb max

#

Remove the page file off d

#

The c drive is THE.ONLY.ONE supposed to have a page file

#

Idfk just delete it and give 4096 to the c drive

#

Or just let windows manage it by ticking that option

#

That's set by windows yes?

#

Nono

#

Drive size doesn't matter at fucking all

#

As long as its not full

#

Just do it manually

#

Set min to 4096 and max to 4096

#

Tgats way too big

#

It could be the reason it's crashing actually ngl

#

Why does it say 11 gb page file

#

If its running out of memory just set it back to 20 gb

#

Wat

#

Bitch just dump all important shit onto another drive and reinstall windows I swear

#

This 11 install is being a goofy goober in a bad way

#

Why?

#

What the fuck

#

Want to save yourself the hassle?

#

Enterprise explains why the page file is so huge, it might also be the cause kf the problems

#

You have 2 drives right? Dump the games onto those

#

I get the slow wifi pain dw it took me 3 hours just to download hl2 linuth

#

Wait what

#

Get new deditcaced wam

#

You have a 6650xt?

#

Wait how big is it ๐Ÿ‘€

#

Like length

#

The 6650xt

#

Sad

#

Mightve bought it off you if it was 7 or less

#

Ahh

#

I gave a 2060 super on the way

#

But nothing to like put it in yet

#

Haven't got the money for the rest of the pc yet

#

Is it less than 190mm?

#

Then no

#

Also a 2060 super is like a 3060 8gb basically but here like 150 eurp cheaper than even used 3060s

#

Oof

#

Just get new ram it's way more important than a gpu

#

40 bucks?

#

Oh ok

#

Wait I thought you was like 20 or sum

#

I thought you were a rich guy idk why I always assume so since most ltt dc members are

#

Oh shit

#

Same but 2 years older and practically no income aka 40 euro a month

storm pecan
open badge
#

Just get a new kit if you can

#

Beam isn't supposed to use more than 3-6 gb of virtual memory

#

At least from experience

#

Damn

open badge
#

I mean that's better but still not good

#

Watcha do?

storm pecan
#

Do you have the RAID set up to AHCI instead of RAID?

#

Intel RST is software for the shitty motherboard RAID iirc

storm pecan
#

If you can still boot Windows, then likely it's fine. Changing RAID/AHCI modes after Windows is installed requires extra steps beyond just the BIOS change. You're probably fine.

open badge
#

WOOO

#

Slap it in and see if it works

open badge
#

Wait what? Is everything OK?

#

Didn't realise that there was a fire at your house

#

Hope you're ok

storm pecan
#

install windbg, open mdmp and see what module bugchecked.

spark wharf

#

mini dump (missing stack info and such). I always forget that blue screens just create full dumps

Either way, load that DMP file into windbg and run "!analyze -v"

storm pecan
#

Check what the critical is I guess.

#

It's a ^*(&ing awful debugger that I do NOT miss using but...it works here.

storm pecan
#

Granted, my usage of it was with internal symbols. Still, I'm hoping the analyze command gives some useful call stack info

#

The DMP should still be present

#

it's only removed when there's a new crash IIRC

#

Well, new one will still be interesting

#

There should be a load dump option in the file dropdown I think

#

Run windbg as admin

#

!analyze -v may take time

#

.bugcheck will also tell you the bugcheck code

#

including the period.

open badge
#

its a ram issue

#

could honeslty be your board

#

heap corruption is memory errors

#

like the slots or even the cpu itself

#

did you try swapping slots?

#

wdym? do you only have 2 ram slots

#

do you have your board still under warranty? or was it 2nd hand

#

likely you could rma if u do

#

cpu you mean

#

it could seriously be a cpu issue

#

did you try it in a different pc? the gpu i mean

#

doesnt matter if you oc ir not you couldve just gotten a hot heap of shit silicon

#

fair, test the gpu on there, oh and also do a clean windows install too before you resue the drive

#

im talkign about the i3, its most likely its fault everythinh is failing

#

is it amd?

#

windows doesnt really like platform cahnges for cpus

#

you could pull the win key tho

#

wait

#

this could be the problem

#

legit it could

#

if you never reinstalled

#

still

#

try a fresh windows install, see what happens

#

if youre bothered transferrign shit overnight

#

i downloaded windows overnight using their tool, i have 200kbps avg so

#

maybe there were some spikes to 12mbps but still

#

imagine

#

like i can even ddos

#

what

more so the board

shit

storm pecan
#

Wow...I thought the days of slow internet were done

lucid badge
#

Do you have dual sticks or single?

#

Hmmm

#

Do you reset the CMOS battery?

#

As I can read the chats. It seems like a mobo to me but try to swap the rams (it is easier to check).

open badge
storm pecan
#

Yeah, new kit and one of two dimms was DOA

lucid badge

#

new kit did boot before

lucid badge
#

So it's not booting anymore!?

open badge
#

now its dram error

lucid badge
#

@woeful lichen (sorry for the mention)

If you are using two sticks then I want you to remove one stick and check if your pc boots. I think your XMP is enabled so with new kits it won't boot up. Boot with one stick go into bios and disable it or just remove CMOS battery for 1-2 mins.

open badge
#

we tried everything posiible

lucid badge
#

Then it all comes to your mobo.

Black BSODs don't give much information.

For how much time you removed the CMOS battery?
