I have a gaming laptop so I dont get more than 200 FPS anyways but how can this randomly happen? I just started the laptop and it took about 1 minute to boot then the apps loaded for like 5 minutes because it was laggy as hell. I have no idea what's causing it, I cant play games because it is a slideshow and most apps like discord lag as well.

idk if its throttling I am not good with PC making or maintaining except cleaning the fans and the laptop

Thermal paste should still be fine, tho a refresh wouldnt hurt. Might just be clogged up and in need of a good cleaning.

Thermal throttling means ur CPU is slowing down bc its running too hot (some self protection). U can use programs like Open Hardware Monitor to monitor temps and speeds while gaming.
If the temps go high and u see speeds going down it means its thermal throttling
