um....dont clone
How should I copy the data from one drive to the other then?
dont use cloaning programs get a exteral sata/m.2/drive connector to usb
something like this
works great i have used
just install windows onto the larger ssd. then (making sure you select the correct boot device), boot up on the new install, mount the old windows files partition, and copy the data over
assuming its 2.5"
yeah
It's an M.2 drive and I have an enclosure coming, but I want to copy my OS drive over so I don't have to spend days reinstalling programs
i have used to transfer data from hdd to ssd
programs may not work i think
correct me if i am wrong
its better to reinstall everything. cloned windows can be fine, but when it isnt, everything goes wrong. things you didnt know could go wrong, go wrong
I have this coming
cloned windows i would not recommend as i heard my friend bricked his drive or smtg so yeah
its a bit of a pain, but in the end, you'll know everything will work. and its not worth risking everything going wrong
great
I want to use my old one as a small media drive
yep, as i said, when something goes wrong, everything goes wrong
yeah can be done
yeah, thats easy. just a quick foramt after copying everything over
when i changed my bootdrive from the hdd to ssd i got a windows installer on a 16 gig pendrive and used it to install windows and formated the hdd after the data transfer
^steps for OP to do, right there
