Win10 Question
And will I be able to install windows even if there's 100gb of files in the flash drive?
(I'm installing win10 on m.2 970 evo plus 1tb that I got today)
Plz help
And will I be able to install windows even if there's 100gb of files in the flash drive?
The fool proof answer here: NO.
When you run the media creation tool, it will wipe any data on the drive.
Yeah, you could use the media creation tool, then copy the files but ehhh.
You don't have a second spare drive?
Thing is I have two ssds currently one m.2 1tb I got today and the other is 500gb ssd that has windows installed on it and videos so I took the videos to the m.2 so I can format the ssd but if I did that I won’t be able to install windows on the m.2 because it has the videos 😣
So I am thinking of getting a 128gb flash to store the videos while I do the clean installation
But idk if I should get a type c or a usb flash
I am worried that a type c won’t work for windows or bios?
My motherboard comes with a type c on the I-O shield
But I never used it
But if you put the videos back on the 500gb ssd, the m.2 is empty? if so you can just install Windows on it and leave the 500GB sata untouched
then when Windows is reinstalled, you can copy your videos to the m.2
Then format the 500gb?
But won’t that mean I will have two windows? One of the reasons I want to reinstall is because suspecting of viruses
Will it not get viruses on the new m.2?
Yes, but when your Windows is installed on the m.2, you can copy off your videos, and format (clean) the 500gb.
Chance is very, very, very low. You'll turn the 500GB just in a hard disk. The windows won't be active.
If you'd feel safer without doing it this way, just get a 128GB usb or so. It's cheap and will do the job.
I haven't used a type C yet, but honestly I see no reason why it wouldn't work
