Its defective

I tried it on another build

dapper sparrow

Ok.

And the cpu kept losing signal

Refusing to install any

dapper sparrow

CPU kept losing signal? Yeah that does sound like a bad socket mount.

#

Typically, what you will see with LGA 1700 with a bad mount is loss of connectivity with memory or PCIe lanes.

cobalt atlas
#

It wasn’t a bad mount

#

I checked it 3 times

dapper sparrow
#

Do you know what LGA 1700 does when you mount the CPU in the socket?

#

All of the mounting pressure is applied to the two raised sections on the IHS at the middle of the length-wise side.

#

The ends up pushing the MIDDLE of the CPU down while the ends of it raise up.

#

The cpu burnt up from the inside

#

That’s what killed it

dapper sparrow
#

Oh. You got pics?

#

I haven't seen this before

cobalt atlas
#

I’ll take some pics when im@baxk

Anyway, this is what my 13900K looked like when I first installed it:

#

Needless to say I immediately purchased and installed a frame

Pretty messy with the thermal paste

I don't know how my mount looked like when I had my 12700K in the standard ILM but what I do know is that the temps were fairly high during light loads and my beQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 could only dissipate 185W, I now have a contact frame and my CPU can easily spike to 275W and sustain around 230W. I can defo recommend getting a contact frame, I'd say it's almost necessary if you've got an air cooler and do lots of CPU-heavy stuff
