my laptop randomly stopped going to sleep when I close my lid, use the shortcut on my keyboard or press sleep button from Start menu. It's really frustrating, does anyone have a clue what may be going on?

Sounds like a screen position sesor is messed up. Run a magnet along the permiter of your laptop and screen to see where the sensor is located.

Sorry for late response but funny thing is I went and got a magnet but before I used it I just made sure the problem still was persistent. So when I closed the lid it did go to sleep now...

@long citrus more specifically whenever my laptop is plugged in it doesn't react to lid being closed but it does when unplugged

Oh. Your power plan is set to do nothing when the lid closes.
