#I'm looking to upgrade my PSU and GPU, help me decide

The reason I want to upgrade my PSU is because I was looking to upgrade my 1660 Ti to a 2060 or 3060 because those other two graphics cards are the only upgrades that are compatible with my motherboard (aside from a 1660 super but I'm obviously not gonna upgrade to that). I was either gonna get a 2060 6GB or 3060 8/12GB. I'm not sure on what I should get and I mean, it's only a $30 difference so if I end up going with the 3060 I'll just get the 12gb version.

My main questions are: Which of the four PSUs should I get? (I'm trying to get one under $80) Also, if none of those PSUs are good, and there is no other PSU under like 80 bucks, then I'll probably just settle for the Corsair RM750e. Next question is, should I get the 2060 6GB or 3060 12GB, and what's the biggest differences between them? And then, if someone could tell me if there is noticeable difference between the 3060 8GB and 12GB.

Thank you!

btw these are the 6gb 2060 and the 8gb and 12gb 3060s that i was talking about

Also, is there really a big difference that the 2060 has one fan and the 3060s that I'm looking at have two?

Go 12gb. Skip the 8gb entirely

2060 is alright but i’d rather grab a 6650xt or something depending on price, if you want something cheaper. In fact, if you dont care about nvidia features i’d grab the 6650xt over the 3060 12gb.

#

What PSU do you have? Depending on what it is, you should be fine running a 10700f + 3060 on 500w

Well, my motherboard doesn’t support AMD graphics cards. I don’t know my exact PSU, only the wattage. but the thing is, i filled up every single one of my USB ports so i had to get that usb port hub extender thing because my pc gave me notifications that i was using a lot of power so it disabled one USB connection. so, that’s why I just wanted to upgrade the psu with it just to be safe, but like i can prioritize the graphics card and just get the psu later

If your motherboard supports a 3060, then it supports any GPU that uses PCIe

#

Which happens to include every AMD GPU produced in the last decade

Even if you upgrade your PSU, that’s not gonna solve the issue. Use other USB ports connected to different headers, or use the back ones.

#

Your PC does not communicate with the PSU. If you draw too much power, your PSU safety will either kick in, or if you have a bad PSU, it will blow up.

#

Pretty easy to find out what PSU you have. Just open the PC and look. Better yet, send a pic.

any recommendations for under $350?

If it’s a shitty 500w then it has a high chance of blowing up once you put it close to 500w

#

Hence why i asked you what specific PSU you have

doesn’t have any labels or nothing

abstract grail

It does lmao

#

Do you have intel or something?

minor valve
#

Well I realize that now, but like I read something wrong and thought that lol im pretty dumb

I thought so

minor valve
#

idk but i never really wanted to get an amd ive just been more interested in nvida for its features ig

Regardless, all gpus are compatible with all motherboards (with the exception of ancient pcie 1.0/2.0

I mean, what are the main differences? like when it comes to ui, power consumtion, because if theres really no difference than ill js get to know amd a bit and go with that

abstract grail
#

ui?

minor valve
#

yea like their softwares

abstract grail
#

You mean GeForce experience? Or nvidia control panel (that’s straight out of the 2000’s)

minor valve
#

yeah geforce and whatnot

#

does amd have its own version

abstract grail
#

Probably, I’ve never had one

minor valve
#

adrenalin software?

abstract grail
#

I mean, it’s your choice, but atm, Radeon is pretty superior when it comes to price to performance

minor valve
#

yeah thats what ive heard, whats the graphics card thats similar to the 4060 but 12gb vram?

abstract grail
#

Uhhh

#

The 4060 is compared with the 7600, which has 8

#

The 7700xt has 12 and compares with the 4060ti 16GB

minor valve
#

alright ima go do some reasearch on amd graphics cards and look at pcpartpicker

midnight gyro
#

As well as CUDA and OPTIX for professional workloads, if you do some

#

Other than that, no difference other than where you download drivers from

#

Also i’d upgrade your PSU just in case. Doesnt look like a good one, unless you can check for the label on the other side of the PSU

#

corsair rm750e

@abstract grail Which website do you use for PSU ratings?
