I'm running arch in a vm with hyprland and when i try to run for example imv or cool-retro-term i get this error [destroyed object]: error 7: importing the supplied dmabufs failed
it's sometimes followed with The Wayland connection experienced a fatal error: Protocol error or something similar
i can't find anything online to help, how do i fix this?

This probably has to do with the hypervisor, what VM hypervisor are you using?
Vmware
Since Hyprland is still in beta, I would assume it could be that contributing to the crash since on bare metal it also likes to crash like a LOT. I have been daily driving Hyprland ever since February this year on both my laptop and desktop and I had SOOO many crashes. Can you try to install another WM/DE to see if it also happens with those (which would indicate some problem on the rest of the OS or with the hypervisor driver)...
I'll give that a try when i get home, thanks
Also Wayland is sometimes a bit nit-picky when it comes to Hypervisors
alright, i gave awesomewm a try and the base install would freeze whenever i tried to open foot (which previously worked on hyprland), and it wont open anything in general
i tried to use ChrisTitusTech's config on github (https://github.com/ChrisTitusTech/titus-awesome) and i still am unable to open a terminal, firefox did work however
sorry for taking so long, school keeps me busy
i forgot if forum posts ping people for messages so just in case || @desert vine ||
well it doesn't exactly freeze, the cursor gets stuck on a loading icon
it goes back to normal after a bit
Well then I assume it‘s a much more noteworthy problem that we are unable to resolve at this time. Make sure the system is up to date tho
