I've got an AMD r2600 on a b450 mother board, I'm trying to set it up with a cryorig h7 cooler. I would expect that this cooler having a tdp of 140W Should be able to cool my 65W tdp CPU. However when I run cinebench the temps still climb to 90C and thermal throttles to around 3.5 GHz. I've mounted it multiple times in a few different ways to make sure it's making as good of contact as it possibly can. I'm using Arctic mx-4 thermal compound. And I also searched up videos of other people testing this cooler not on my CPU specifically but their temps seem to stay well below 75C Is this what I should expect from an upgraded cooler or is there something that I'm not seeing.

did you remove the plastic cover from cooler
There is none, I got this cooler used from my sister. Air flows freely through the fin stack
I also dusted it out before putting it in
Is the ihs touching the die at all?
Of that coler was used in an intel system and you reused ie the intem standoffs the cooler won't make contact
Yes, so I've mounted and remount with and without the standoffs and it made a small difference but if it's not properly contacting the die now then I'd need to modify the mounting screws to have more threads
Which I might be able to do id just have to measure the threads
If it helps here's what the thermal paste spread looks like after mounting
Not enough paste on the top right corner
Remember this cpu has 3 silicon dies to cool any am4 chip does
fr
I can try that, I'll also take a picture of what the thermal paste is at the moment when I didn't use the standoffs
Well show me how you apply
Use a different cooler at this point without standoffs you risk bending the board or backplate which won't be good
The thermal paste syringe I have has measures along the side, makes about a pea sized ball in the middle
Do a checker pattern of 9 small like half pea sized dots pn the ihs
It's how I do it and it usually spreads evenly
Ok, I'll try that after I eat
Don't retry that cooler
Just get a new one
Even a cheap one like this https://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-Assassin-SE-Heatpipes-TL-C12C/dp/B09Y869Z8B/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=King+120+se&qid=1696458982&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1
This cooler will keep the cpu chill and help with future upgrades
Iirc this cooler can do up to 170w tdp which basically covers most of am4
I'm gonna give it another try, but if it doesn't work I will probably get a different cooler
I'd not reccomed it
Please don't it might damage your board without the standoffs
No I'll put the standoffs back
i have this but white argb
I know
was £14.90
howwww
What cpu do you have ?
.......10100f
I got that cooler but haven't gotten the rest of the pc yet lol
Rx 580?
My Setup + Gaming PC - Intel Core i3-10100F, Radeon RX 570
570 8gb
it was a £400 budget
this build was £420
Should've saved up ngl
i wanted to have good aesthetics and performane
Like saved up more
bro i only play fortnite....at 60fps
Well you got aesthetics but nearly no performance for the money
