I built this computer ETA ~2 months ago, and it recently started making these inconsistent noises that I can't explain, it's really hard to pinpoint where it's coming from, but it seems like the PSU is the one to blame

Sounds like a vibration.

Is the psu fan spinning?

The PSU (NZXT C850) was running with zero RPM mode disengaged, while playing Forza Horizon 5 in freeplay

#

So i assume it is

haughty dock
#

Dose it only make that sound when playing a game

#

Or high performance program

strange zenith
#

I also notice it while browsing sometimes

haughty dock
#

It’s probably the psu

#

I'm a programmer, so I have VSCode and a bunch (60) chrome tabs open at the same time

No

#

It’s fine

#

It’s probably a bearing going bad

strange zenith
#

Wow, that's quick then

#

Just 2 months

haughty dock
#

I mean you could rma it

#

If you find that it is the psu

#

They have like 10 year warrantys

strange zenith
#

I would probably rma it where I bought it from - in the Netherlands they're obligated to replace it if they sold you a "faulty product"

#

Thanks, I'll see if it gets too annoying

haughty dock
#

You would have to do more testing to see if it is the psu though

strange zenith
#

How would I do that?

#

The noise is way more noticeable with than without sidepanel, is that any useful information?

haughty dock
#

Put your phone like on your psu

#

And see how load it is

#

What fans do you use in your case

#

And are you gc fans spinning correctly

strange zenith
haughty dock
#

And of your fans are electro magnetic then it’s your psu witch is normally bearings

strange zenith
#

I'm using the standard fans that came with my case (Fractal Design Pop Air RGB) and the fans from my AIO (CoolerMaster ML240L V2)

haughty dock
#

Those fractal fans are also barings so they may also be the problem

#

Just check all the fans

strange zenith
#

They don't seem to cause the issue

#

I think it's the PSU because the sound is more apparent when the case is closed
