Hi all,

I'm looking at putting together a system to run modern games (Baldurs for example) at the highest settings. I'd prefer to stay Nvidia and Intel, since that's what I'm currently using, and I'd like to stay with my current case (Deepcool Tesseract) but neither is a hard rule. The only other hard rule is really to stay air cooled. So far I have put together the below:

•Gigabyte G790 UD AC ATX LGA1700

•Intel Core i7-13700K 3.4 GHz 16-Core

•Deepcool AK620 ZERO DARK 68.99 CFM

•Zotac GAMING Trinity OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB

•EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G6 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX

2 of these: •G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30

Thoughts?

I'll be going with a couple SSDs for storage, and my budget is around $2000-2500.

Is this for gaming only or are you doing something else?

I added a 1440p monitor because you have the budget and spending that much on a system just for 1080p is a waste imo

Okay

#

that is NOT a 1080p system jesus christ

naive kraken
#

That’s why I added the monitor

light finch
#

exactly

#

2k for a 1080p system wtf

#

thats enough for a 4k system

I'd be pretty happy to dial things back a bit...or a lot. Haven't bought a computer since 2014 haha. Looks like the 7900 is 3 whole milimeters too long to fit in my case anyway.

light finch
#

damn thats an L

naive kraken
#

They make shorter models

#

I think the reference model is the shortest

dusk iron
#

Nice, time to poke around part picker some more. Here I thought I'd have to break out the dremel/sandpaper...

dusk iron

Swapping out for a XT card makes em fit with lots of room to spare. Loses me 4gb but also $100+.

I'm rethinking my approach-- might split my budget up and put together a pair of solid 1080p systems for my wife and I so we can play together instead of one mega-PC. I honestly thought this would be more expensive than it is.

Do you live near a microcentre?

light finch
#

truee

#

microcenter rocks

naive kraken
#

This if you want to build 2 seperate systems

#

I chose the shortest 6800xt that was a reasonable price so you can fit it in your case

#

Should have 0mm of clearance

light finch
#

0mm 💀

naive kraken
#

It’s exactly 310mm

light finch
#

lmfao

#

if it aint fit he can just get the dremel

naive kraken
light finch
#

lol

naive kraken
#

Oh wait did I forgot to paste it in

#

🤦‍♂️

light finch
#

you goofy goober

naive kraken
#

I know lmao

light finch
#

lol

naive kraken
#

So I’d wait for those to get restocked

Maybe microcentre bundles or something

#

OP hasn’t confirmed they live near one though so we should wait a little

dusk iron
#

I live across town from one, yeah. More than happy to pay them a visit!

naive kraken
#

Okay

#

If you go there for the 7700x bundle I’d take a look to see if they have any 7800xts close to msrp

dusk iron
naive kraken
#

Okay

#

It’s also the shortest model so no potential clearance issues

#

Oops messed up the link

dusk iron
#

That looks like a nice deal

There isn’t much improvement over the 6800xt but you can take advantage of the new features you get with the latest generation, it does have better raytracing though by about 15%
