#RX 6950xt VS RTX 4070 in RT
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
3080 I think
interesting
Not because the raytracing cores are as good but it’s because the rasterization fps is so much better that it becomes the same fps
yeah
Also 40-series in general is a bad idea unless you're looking at a 4090
4070 is very close to a 6950xt while consuming less power and having better rt
It depends
true, but compared to the 3080, which could be had for almost 200 dollars less (I personally daily drive a white 3080 that I paid about 400 dollars for), I wouldn't
the 4070 is slightly better than the 3080 in every category
but the 6950xt is better raw performance, the 4070 just has more features and things like that
4070 does have av1 support
Theres like a 10-15% difference between the 2, also raytracing is overrated.
Raytracing is a nice thing to have sometimes
Quake 2 and portal look fantastic with it
The 6950xt is still good at raytracing just not as much as the 4070
also the 4070 has dlss and machine learning
Actually 10-25%
FSR 3.0 is dropping soon
And better power consumption
So is dlss 3.5
Just another thing though
the 6950xt is better for raw performance if that is what you want
I like raytracing but I'd rather have more longevity than good raytracing now
lmao, I dont really mind the power consumption besides the fact my psu might not be enough to handle the 6950xt
But it is 650w and B tier in the tierlist, I've had many people say that I should be fine, and others who run the same with no problems.
What do you plan on doing with the pc
(Paired with ryzen 5 5600)
Gaming, light video editing
You shouldn't buy a GPU for vram alone
If you live in a place with high power bills, you start to really appreciate efficiency
Every type
I'm not, the 6950xt has 10-25% more performance, is 10 euros cheaper, looks better haha
For $150 more you can get a 7900 xt 😮💨🤌🏻
would if i could
Rip. Yea the 6950 xt is a great choice tbh even in 2023
Especially if you can grab a OC version for cheap
MSI Gaming Radeon RX 6950 XT 256-bit 16GB GDDR6 DP/HDMI Triple Torx 4.0 Fans FreeSync DirectX 12 VR Ready RGB Graphics Card (RX 6950 XT Gaming X Trio 16G) (Renewed) https://a.co/d/7HVUFc2

Now you too can enjoy all your favorite games with a powerful graphics card that stays cool and silent. Just the way you li...
^^
This is refurbished btw
Still comes with a warranty
I almost bought this card before I bought the 7900 xtx
I'd recommend a red devil or nitro plus pure one, those are the best binned
Forgot to mention I live in the netherlands
So i cant use newegg
The local stores only sell the merc 319
Thats a pretty good cars I just always thought xfx cards looked kinda plain
Do you guys reckon the 7800xt will be a better choice over the rx 6950xt?
It looks like a more power efficient 6950xt to me
So ideal for my scenario
Nah, msrp of $500 probably like a 5% increase in performance or something like that
ah so just a slightly better rx 6800xt
For now at least with the amd provided benchmarks but with driver updates it could continue to get much better
The 7900 xtx was kinda meh when it first came out but now it’s improved and started to become a real contender to nvidia
fine wine
Interesting
Well, if I can't run the 6950xt stably, or am interested in the latest gen I might consider going for the 7800xt
But on the other hand I dont see any reasons to go for it over the rtx 4070
Price is irrelevant as long as its in my budget (670~ euros)
4070 is overpriced and underperforming
Yea lol
right
I would go for a second hand 3090 if i could honestly
But they are even more power hungry than the 6950xt i think
I like raytracing and dlss is handy with raytracing
But i have only used it in cyberpunk, and (short lived) minecraft bedrock
Does FSR 3 look as good as dlss?
If so then I have no reason to consider nvidia really besides possible future productivity
Hasnt came out so idk
Wellll im not gonna speculate till I can use it myself
Do you guys have any recommendations in terms of 7800xt variants
That would look nice in my build?
Asrock taichi or powercolor spectral hellhound
Yes either, asrock will probably perform a bit better tho. That is if it turns out like the 6800 xt did between the two cards
Great news! Looks like I'm going to be able to get a new psu guys!
I'm also helping my friend upgrade his i3 8300 and gtx 1050ti
Convinced him to get an rx 6650xt, dual channel 16gb ram and an m.2 nvme ssd
But his prebuilt has a weird integrated power supply
and can't fit the 6650xt
So I'm "selling" a spare case i had and my current psu to him for cheap
and getting a 750w/850w for a 6950xt
any recommendations for a good budget one? (850w)
I currently have eyes set on the Gigabyte UD850GM for 110 euros.
UD850GM is good
the job is done
Looks great and actually performs better than my 4070 in cyberpunk psycho RT at 1080p
I went for the rm850e v2 in the end
Awesome you’ll love it
Thank you for the help @here
xfx cards are so fuggin pretty
frrr bro
i almost got one but it was gonna be too expensive so i found an msi 6800 on sale
Only thing is xfx cards aren’t big on overclocking like some other brands
Normally why they’re the budget option I guess
yeah
All I know is my 7900 xtx literally could cook an egg on the backplate
aye at least that means its functional
Yea it runs at like 55c it Defo gets the heat off but everytbing in my case is hot lol
The glass is hot to the touch I sorta wanna water cool it so it gets pulled straight out of the case
aye
