To summarize, I bought an i7-7700k from a second hand shop that is a huge company in the UK, they have franchises everywhere (kinda like McDonald's) and are renowned for selling well-tested, good condition computer hardware, videogames, etc.
Well the CPU arrived broken. It only detected 1 channel of RAM out of the box, and only one of my two graphics cards.
I immediately took it out of my system and got a refund for it, as this should've shown up in testing and the item should not have been listed for sale.
However, when putting my old CPU back in, an i5-6600k, my second GPU is still not detected. Not even by the bios. The GPU works in the top PCIE 16x slot, but then my other GPU isn't detected.
The cards don't even spin their fans, which they usually do, when in slot 2. I do have a 3rd slot but I haven't tested if it works as my case is too small to use a GPU in slot 3, as it's only single height.
I'm starting troubleshooting now, but it appears the faulty CPU has broken my motherboard somehow. I'm unsure how this has happened, but would appreciate anything I can diagnose to get to the bottom of the situation.
My first step will be looking at the CPU slot pins, if any are bent or not. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Tl:Dr - New CPU arrived broken and partially broke my motherboard. CPU was refunded, but I need to verify that I didn't break the board while putting the new CPU in. Any advice would be great.
