#Wood and Resin Case?

I'm toying with the idea for my next build of creating a wooden case that would be customized and decorated with Resin Printed and Foam pieces. I have plans for Air cooling (which will probably be overkill so I never have to worry about heat.) . Prtty much I'm thinking a modifued Treasure chest with a floor of face down fans, and feet, more intake fans (filtered) pulling from a partially open lid. Unsure on exact AMD CPU, but likely going with an X670 Motherboard and decent DDR5 RAM. Start with a 6700 GPU.

My concern is picing it all together. Normal cases have screw holes, wood boxes don't. Not sure if gaps between motherboard and outer walls are truly needed or the best ways to attach. Throw in Resin pieces and a final paintjob and I know I'll need to do ALOT of preplanning. Figured I'd thow it out there for others to think on, maybe give some pointers.

They wanna make a custom wood and resin case, they’re asking for tips on how to make it

Oh my bad

#

Btw you don’t need a x670 board

#

Don’t get one

#

It’s a waste of money

#

Max b650e

#

But I still just recommend b650

Wait a sec, they’re getting a 6700?

winter heart

Yeah on a x670 board 💀

#

@naive kindle I’ll make a list

Yes definitely get a B650, gotta put more money towards a good gpu

#

Well the 6700 is good, just not good

@naive kindle you live near a microcente?

Also whats the budget?

No Microcenter nearby. I was going to go with an X570, but saw the 670 was dropping in price and would allow me to future-proof a bit more.
AS for budget, it's pretty much buy it piece by piece, a couple Hundred per payday. I'm in no hurry because my current PC is a topped out X99a 4 Channel I7 running 64GB RAM at 2133mhz, an AMD 6600, and total 8TB in SSDs.
I hope to double all the stats (except maybe the SSDs, but plan for faster ones there).
I'm really thinkin of a 6750 GPU. Things just get overpriced beyond that point.
I had also been considdering a current Gen 4 channel Motherboard, but prieces were way above what I felt I would be getting for my money.
Probably sticking with AMD for this system though.

#

Still unsure on the CPU though. Prices are all over the place.

How much are you wanting to spend on the pc? ( excluding the cost of the case )

probably $1,000 to 1,200. Not planning to use RGB, so I figure II'll get whant I need in this range.

Same price as the non rgb one, I’d just turn off the rgb if you don’t want it

I'm doing the same kinda

It looks like people are having the same idea as myself. My big thing is using the wooden treasure chest and figuring out how to mount the Motherboard, fans, drives and such to a wooden box without starting a fire.

Treasure chest or something else? Mine is going to be a bit "extra." I plan to do some 3d printing and add a mouth, teeth, tongue, and a few tenticals to the mix. Hoping to create a Mimic.

Sounds like you will be dealing with many of the same issues that I will. Installing electronic components to and in a wooden box, seems easy, but I greatly suspect there will be far more to it than that. If it were easy, everyone would have a wood case.

I'm also starting with a pre-made, lidded treasure chest. (I've found a few that will hold an ATX Motherboard without being too big

My problem is mounting a gpu
