How can I increase my mobile speed to the same PC speed in 2nd pic . my Bro mobile can reach up to 600 but my phone is only 300 for some reason . Any help is appreciated

How is your internet so fast!?!

upload so low because coax connection xd

I’m jealous lmao, I get 60 down, 15 up

And the only way you're gonna be hitting 5g speeds that high is if you're directly on a network that supports it (not an MVNO) and living within a city in direct or close to direct line of view to them towers

forest wedge
#

I mean technical words

summer sparrow
#

It does support wifi ac which is a theoretical max of 1.2g but you're very likely never going to see them speeds.. it also heavily depends on the provider of that wifi chip, quality of antennas and the placement of them, etc.. Also depends on the software support/setup of that wifi chip by the oem using it

yessir

#

god i hate how much i relate to that

#

I just want that good cup noodle

forest wedge
#

I just watched a youtube about British people calling Cup noodle one of the best food they have eaten although it suppose to be just simple fast food ....

#

It's just my bro who is in the same house as me also use this Wifi and he can reached 600 . I would have not made such a big deal but his speed made me realized there might just be something is bottlenecking my phone ,if software-wise , maybe I can fix it

#

his phone is poco f4

summer sparrow
#

That phone supports wifi 6, very likely why

#

Isn't much you can do for your phone other than.. buy a new one

#

It does also make sense because iirc, oneplus's lineup of "nord" devices is essentially their budget phones, they cut corners on them

#

If you care about always getting the best everything possible/not hitting bottlenecks of hardware, always stick to main flagship lineups (samsung s series, google's pixel lineup excluding the "a" devices, oneplus "number" devices, etc..) hopefully you get what i'm hinting at from that

#

It'll (almost, there are few exceptions sometimes) always get you an overall well-rounded device that's actually designed properly and will function entirely as you'd expect

With phones it varries so much

summer sparrow
#

^^ always gotta look at in-depth reviews and testing in a variety of scenarios if you want to make a decision of buying a phone

#

I thought it can do 5G so it automatically support wifi 6 too

summer sparrow
#

Completely different technologies

#

xd

forest wedge
#

Now it all makes sense

summer sparrow
#

Mobile modems and wifi modems function the same in terms of what they do and the very general idea of how they receive signals

How they actually work are massively different though xd

#

Ever notice that laptops almost never have the ability to connect to mobile networks? It's because it would require an entire second modem chip and seperate antennas routed to be able to support it, hence why it's really only ever seen on business laptops

#

Same thing as you technically could design a phone that literally only supports 2.4g wifi, but supports latest 5g standards for mobile networks

forest wedge
#

I am starting to see the LIGHT

#

I hope ..........

#

🥹

#

I am reading on wifi 6 and 5G now but It's too hard ffor me to process. I just know 5G is better than 2.4 and wifi 6 is better than wifi 5 and that is just waht I was looking for in my new rotuer

#

I just test the speed on my old phone which is 11 pro max, it said it support wifi 6 but the speed I got there is only 400 so maybe there could be something wrong with my wireless network ?

#

cause my pc uses ethernet

summer sparrow
#

Comes full circle back to the differences in phone manufacturing

#

Of course the budget phone is going to perform worse than the iphone when testing the "same" shit xd

#

That's the only thing i will give apple credit for in their phones, consistency of functionality between devices (ignoring the whole issue of parts replacements, etc..)

summer sparrow
#

The biggest thing that you need to realize and do, is to stop comparing mobile networks to wifi networks

#

Wifi: 2.4ghz, 5ghz, 6ghz, etc..

Mobile networks: 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, etc..

In most scenarios, wifi will be listed as "ghz", mobile networks will be listed as "g", they are not comparable to each other as they are completely different hardware-wise

forest wedge
summer sparrow
#

It's the wavelengths/"bands" that they broadcast, not the speed

#

For finding the speeds of each one, gotta pull out the handy google

#

Very generally speaking, the higher the number, the faster it is.. each has their own set of optimal use conditions though

forest wedge
summer sparrow
#

General rule of thumb is.. if it's not a giant cell tower, it's not a mobile network xd

forest wedge
#

I see thank you so much I am starting to see the difference

summer sparrow
#

Ever see one of these? This is where your mobile network connection comes from, one of these fuckers xd

forest wedge
#

so bascailly 5G just is not relevant to our current topic now all we care about is wifi 6 right

summer sparrow
#

bingo

#

if you ever see any mention or correlation to wifi, assume it's wifi and not mobile network

forest wedge
#

So uhm what were we talking about .....

summer sparrow
#

Whole topic started from your phone not being as fast as your brother, lead into the talk of what wifi bands your phone supports vs your brothers benjyvr_sips

#

Which then turned into explaining the difference between mobile and wifi networks

forest wedge
#

So I guess my best solution at this point based on what you said to ultilize the gigabit connection is getting SAMSUNG GALAXY ULTRA S22 OR IPHONE 15 PRO MAX 512 GB , Something like that right

#

nothing can salvage my phone from getting higher than 300 , am i rite ?

#

🥹

summer sparrow
#

Wouldn't have to go to that level of extreme, but generally speaking ye

empty jewel
#

When do you even use more than that on a phone

forest wedge
# empty jewel When do you even use more than that on a phone

I know but the thing it's just I paid for the whole 1giga bit each month so I just don't want my money wasted you know. What if I don't have PC , then although i paid for 1000 mbps but all i use every day is 300 then I might just buy a cheaper internet plan instead

summer sparrow
#

Actually hit the bingo on what i was typing, damn your fingers are fast

#

It's one of those "my network can do it, so i want my devices to support it" type of deal

forest wedge
#

AWWW , you are the first person to understand me so deeply ❤️

#

everyone in other thread is just making fun of me for trying to get more speed on my phone

#

yeah of course I am not going to fully use any of that but I already paid for it any way. might just as well use all of it

summer sparrow
#

Shrug if you already pay for the internet, there's no shame in wanting a device that can saturate it.. in the end you literally just end up with faster downloads/etc

#

It's def something i personally wouldn't replace a working phone otherwise over though unless i had other issues with the device as well

forest wedge
#

But one thing still on my mind is why the 11 pro max only get 400 on the internet speed. I thought it at least can go up to 600 like my bor's Poco

summer sparrow
#

I'd honestly just throw the blame onto apple's software and ignore it, it should be getting them speeds (or higher) but Shrug

#

is what it is

#

The only way anyone could ever get me to use an apple device, is if it's as a work exclusive device.. aint no way in hell i would daily drive one

forest wedge
#

Well If I have tons of money and pay for every paid app and services there on apple then yeah , it could be good but no sane people would do that

summer sparrow
#

Why do that when i can go yoink the apk for free and just sideload it on android okayuEhehe

#

Totally wouldn't do that or anything, yep definitely not

forest wedge
#

totally innocent

#

BTW the mbps in the speedtest app is megabit per second right

summer sparrow
#

Yessir NOD

forest wedge
#

I always thought it was megabyte this whole time

#

SHOCKING

#

I almost embarass myself in fron of another person who was just telling me this

#

thank god you are here to save me
