#GT 720 IN GPU 0?!
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
why
low performance
well is it rendering on igpu
I have integrated gpu in my cpu but
im currently plugging the gt 720 gpu in my monitor
and gt 720 is worse then lots of igpu's
nuh uh
i have a bad cpu either
so this gpu would help
a4-6300 and gt 720 combo
a4 6300 has integrated gpu
but
i think pairing with gt 720 would help
are you saying that i need 4090 or sum like that
lol
ok dose the 3d load show up on the gt 720 when running game
before i dont have gt 720
its slow
i notice improvements once i got it
google said gpu 0 is integrated
but bruh
NO its not
its the first one the os picks for list thats all
why a you thinking its under performing
is there a gpu 1 in the list
no
the gt 720 is the only one and the list starts at 0
yes
so is there a problem
^ this
The tldr is computers start counting form 0 and up, this is normal to see
Yeah whatever you found was probably an article that would apply to laptops, not desktops
probably.
well igpu is noramly 0 if its enabled
As laptops have an igpu, which is typically the primary ( 0 ) with the dedicated gpu in it being ( 1 ) but not tye primary
well i have igpu as 0 and dgpu as 1
As long as you connect the display to the dedicated gpu, it'll use that for rendering, unless you've set otherwise in power settings/etc
I'll send something
This?
what
Basically there's nothing wrong with your PC at all
Also I just replaced thermal paste in the gpu
how do i check the
temparature
im using windows 10
with hwinfo or gpuz
man i dont need to download
some gpu it will say in taskmgr
yes but only for gpu 1
Think of "GPU 0" as a nerdy way to say, "primary GPU". So that's telling you that you have the GT720 active, which sounds like is what you want
well its not allway primy gpu
do you ahve drivers
I'm being handwavy here for the sake of this discussion
Yes
well idk other way with out downloads
Oh wait @OP are you instead trying to get your igpu to show up in task manager as GPU 0
what "hwinfo"
nuh uh
Then everything seems to be working as intended?
Does your task manager have a GPU 1 that lists the igpu? If not, then the igpu is definitely disabled and you're only using the gt720
there is NO GPU 1 in task manager
only GPU 0
That means you only have the gt 720 active
kinda
Wym kinda
but my cpu has integrated
But it's disabled
idk
That's why it's not showing up in task manager
Wym maybe
I'm telling you: Gt 720 being listed as GPU 0 with no gpu 1 listed means you have a gt720 plugged in and active and your igpu is disabled
What update # of windows are you on
they said 10
Let me rephrase that
What build of windows 10 are you on
My top 3 guesses for what's wrong here:
- The gt720 is a really cheap GPU and might not have onboard temperature sensors, thus no temperature reported.
- You haven't updated windows since 2020 and so the feature is not present
- Your GPU drivers model is less than wddm 2.0
i already updated my windows
I ALWAYS update windows
i have wddm 2.7
Ok so that rules out 2 and 3
if gpu has no temperature sensors
nvidia themselves must not have data about temperatures of gt 720
google said gt 720 can work at 98 °C.
then
how did they found out?
hmm im guessing tools
like temperature checker
the gun
thing
oh right
thermometer
There are ways to calculate it but that's not the point rn, I think a reasonable thing to do rn is to download hwinfo and check if the sensors exist
It's at least a good sanity check
how about techpowerup
Techpowerup is one of the websites that you can to go to in order to download hwinfo
or you can get it fomr there sight
Yeah there's quite a few mirrors, but that one is fine
the middle one right?
Yeah that works
Ok so there's def a functioning sensor there
When you updated to the latest driver, did you uninstall the previous driver using ddu
So if there's no temperature sensor then there will be no "GPU Temperature"
What driver.
GPU driver
I have the very latest driver
Nvidia GPU driver
You updated to the latest driver right
yes
Did you run ddu to uninstall the previous driver
That conflict might be what's causing the GPU temps to not show in task manager
You do
HEAR ME OUT
yes
it does
i can tell i dont have it already
using the control panel
All I'm asking is, when you updated your driver, did you run DDU
im installing ddu
Bc if you didn't, then there's a good chance that's why the GPU temp is not showing on task manager
Ddu wipes your computer of all traces of ever having a GPU driver
Yes, that's why it's the recommended way of updating drivers
Bc when you uninstall via control panel or any other way, theres random shit that doesn't get deleted
No it's mainly registry values that need to be wiped
Run ddu and then reinstall the latest drivers, the temp should hopefully pop up in control panel
Here you can Download Display Driver Uninstaller, this Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, with...
Bottom of the page has mirrors
Okay let's not talk here, There's a filter going around
