What laptop is it?
its a thinkpad t14
Gen 1 or gen 2?
im not sure, it just says T14 on the laptop so i imagine its a gen 1?
Does it have a touchscreen?
no
Ok, so its a gen 1
it was working fine but i installed win 11 and it slowed to a halt
its okay ish now with a factory reset but i'd like to have more stuff on the laptop and have it work okay
Wait, I read the lenovo site wrong. The gen 1 has a touchscreen, gen 2 doesnt
Yeah, that would help. Gen 2 has 48 gigs of ram and a core i7-1185G7
Should have both of those if its a gen 2
im touching it right now and no lucj
its got a face scanner and a fingerprint scanner
Lets get to what you made this post for
yes
So you upgraded it to windows 11 and it slowed down?
yes, by a noticeable amount
im on holiday right now so i cant downgrade it with installation media
but i plan to do that when i return
Yeah, thats what I was gonna suggest first, is get windows 10 back on it
Wait, you have the laptop on you rn, right?
yes im typing on it currently
You dont need a usb drive if its just going to be going onto this laptop
do you not?
Nope
i thought you needed to boot into a usb to install windows
The media creation tool will also install windows onto the computer its installed on if you tell it to
really?
yeah
how can i do that?
Install the media creation tool
then when it comes up, there should be a option to "install windows 10 on this computer" or something like that
this one?
do i lose all my data if i do this
sadly
Pretty sure you lose all your data either way anyway
just trying now
k
if/when i get it back to windows 10 what further steps cna i take to debloat/optimise?
Removing all the lenovo preinstalled stuff
so i can just do this?
Yeah
awesome, thanks br i didnt know i could do that
You're welcome!
so
how can i remove the lenovo stuff?
its not that much honestly, its just a driver for the fingerprint sensor which is pretty importnat
and is ethere anything else i can do? like a s cript or something that changes settings
Really? My friend has a legion laptop and it had a crapton of lenovo preinstalled stuff
Not as far as I'm aware
Then again, I mainly deal with desktop PCs
If I had to guess, your laptop probably is barely scraping the bare minimum specs to run 11
I tried it and hated it, so I had went back to 10
Will probably use 10 even after they discontinue support for it
I have no idea what that is
You're welcome! I would keep this open just in case it does the same thing on 10
