we can go on a call and screenshare if thats gonna help
"use microsoft ... api" what's the exact setting

this is the exaxt setting i used
im not 100% sure if this caused it
i found many sites mentioning these together
but no solution i can understand anywhere
i turned this thing on to be able to "game cature" in obs
and it worked out, but after restarting my pc, my windows taskbar was fked

It's going to be tough finding forum/bug reports for this, because it's a really broad issue that could have many causes. In other words, there's a good chance all of these are completely unrelated
Have you booted into the Windows repair/safeboot menu and tried the automatic repair?
Have you unchecked that option in RTSS?
idk about automatic repair, but i had to safe start at some point and i didd everything form this vid for example
Windows 10 Start menu NOT Working

Why my start search cortana taskbar does not work?

Yeah this is what I was getting at earlier. This is a broad issue and these videos are going to be very unhelpful
No, you're fine dude
An easy first step here is to do the automatic repair provided by windows
Go to click on the restart option, but hold shift while you're doing it
It should boot into a menu like this
i unchecked the option in rtss and restarted my pc but it didnt help
Click advanced options > startup repair
can you click on the start menu at all?
otherwise, just restart and select the power/reset option in the login screen
win key is not responding
^^
in login screen i will try
remember to hold Shift when you click restart
It failed to finish or was unable to find any issues?
i dont remember the exact wording and it was in german as well. but i think i couldnt even get started
It's either that I'm stupid, or this problem has an extremely easy solution
Put in a usb drive, go to bios, set the usb drive as the boot device, and boot up your pc
(the usb drive needs to have an os installed btw)
whats that gonna do? for reapiars`?
Nothing, you can then recover your data and reset your pc
i dont wanna reset my pc
The whole point here is to avoid doing a reset
i just did that a few days ago
I know, but I thought you were avoiding resetting your pc because you didn't want your data to be lost
nah, its just to much effort to set everything up agian and again
im4h+ into looking for a solution
FWIW, it's going to get to a point (or already has) where the amount of time you spend trying to fix this bug takes longer than it would have to just reinstall windows
Does your boot drive have other applications on it?
i just want to know to the exact solution to my problem, so i can just fix it fast next time it happens
Wait, are you using windows 10 or 11?
10
I think you can fix it by downloading windows 11
only the ones which forced themselves in there like discord
i my e drive for all optional software
Try downloading windows 11
my pc is to old for windows 11
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Did you actually try?
that gonna be a littleexpensive for me
https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/bypass-windows-11-tpm-requirement
You have to fuck with the registry to install 11 on a PC that old, because it doesn't have TPM
Can you try freeing storage?
That google overview excludes the TPM requirement
But it is possible to bypass it
i heard of this, but idk if i should risk it. since ppl say it might crash on you , adn you will get no updates cuz its not supported hardware...
non of my drives are near to beeing full. wdym?
Wait, try restarting your pc and when you go into the login page, press restart while holding shift
I think that takes you to the automatic repair thing
Homie take a moment to look through this chat, I already walked them through this
You didn't say what I said though
you said to press the windows key
I said to press the restart key on the signup page
wait lemme try it myself
i did this already
^^
I literally said exactly that
Automatic repair did nothing
That was going to be my next suggestion before you steamrolled a win11 install
yea
Have you tried going into safe boot?
i was gonna start this soon , but im mentall done for now i think https://www.easeus.com/computer-instruction/windows-10-startup-repair-not-working.html
thjis is a lot of steps to fix this
These are not helpful articles
Man chill it's not that hard to fix
Step One is to take a deep breath and go for a walk, it's not worth it
yea im 5 hours on this sht already
Telling them it's easy to fix when they've spent half a day on it is not helpful advice
Idk man
just telling you, I once tried fixing my laptop's os for a week straight
@little mango Go for a walk, step away from the computer for a bit
and it worked out because I had patience
That's a great story dude, thanks for sharing
np!
yea, i will
Get some fresh air and revisit this tomorrow. Trust me, it'll help a lot
thx man
Have you tried just restarting the taskbar ?
This used to happen to me occasionally in the past, for what reason I don't know
Following those instruction to restart windows explorer always fixed it for me
yea, this is on of the fist things i did. im a windosw xp veteran :)
there is defenetly something fked in windows files
i want my windows 7 back q_q at this point im considdering to try out linux for the first time... but there is no valorant on linux ...
I wonder if installing Classic Shell would resolve this
http://www.classicshell.net/
If you like Win 7, you'd dig this anyways, as it can reskin the taskbar to look like 7
the software is doin its job, by giving me a funktional windows button. but when i close it, the windosw button still doesnt work. and also even if running i cant rightlick or edit shortcuts cant click on clock or notifications either. so its basicly just giving me a makeup windows button
Did it work in safe mode? If it does then I suppose you can start uninstalling things one by one mull you find the culprit
Just reset the pc
dude if your mom dies, i will be at her funeral with you, telling you to 'just be happy'
Thats Not a Comparison

now go and think about what you have done
Why cant you reset it bro
Seriously
There is Not a Single reason why you cant do it
cuz i dont wanna reset and setup my entire system every time this random error comes
