Hello everyone! A bit of background. I have worked for 1 year as a volunteer for an association helping foster children pursue an education. The conditions they study in are pretty appalling. No PC, horrible internet, they only have a few smartphones that are NOT theirs, so they cannot do any digital work for school like a PowerPoint presentation for instance.

This has moved me to start streaming in order to raise money for these children. I am basically nobody in the virtual space but slowly I managed to form a community and we have raised enough money to build a PC. We aim to build a custom PC or PCs and donate them before school starts.

Now, I turn to you guys for help. These kids need: a PC for school work, printer, peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor) and a router for stronger Internet signal.

The budget so far is $1000. Yes, I know it's not a fortune but it is what it is.

What is the smartest thing to do with these $1000? Build one PC with peripherals, printer, and also a strong router? Is it possible to build two PCs? Should we raise more money and attempt to build two PCs?

I would love if someone could recommend components to buy in this price range. Either for one or two PCs if we can fit that many in this budget.

As you may be aware, summer vacation will soon be over and I want to have at least one PC ready for them to use for school. What are your thoughts?

ANY feedback is appreciated, you are helping some kids that really do not have the luxury we are lucky to enjoy every day.

What currency?

#

Are you wanting brand new because you could save money going with second hand parts?

#

But if you want brand new

  • I3 12/13 gen
  • Ryzen 3 4100
  • Ryzen 5 3600/5500
#
#

but these are the cheapest without on board wifi.

ok printer thonk but you can get a second hand dell computers for cheap like a Dell Latitude 7480 14-inch (2017) - Core i5-6300U - 16 GB - SSD 256 GB for $200
Dell Chromebook 3180 Celeron 1.6 ghz 32gb SSD - 4gb QWERTY - English (US) for $50

ember lagoon
#

yeah the problem is that he doesnt want used

shrewd mortar
#

sad quite a lot of good deals 10 tb hard drive for £96

ember lagoon
#

yeah uh different market, different prices

proud bloom
#

Would really want brand new parts. I want them to have something nice. My question is if two PCs can be fit in that budget or just one?

And regardless of the number, componenets list would be greatly appreciated: ram, psu, cooler.. the works. I was thinking ryzen already comes with an included cooler so maybe I can save some money there?

ember lagoon
#

cause for some reason there arent any cpus cheaper than that which have an igpu and arent horrid

#

could drop down in storage to save like 60 lei

#

and for router man.. i think digis 3 ron per month is pretty good value..

#

i have absolutely 0 idea about printers

proud bloom
#

This is SO GOOD thank you so much WoopyMan truly truly thank you

#

About printers, I will get whatever but I just really wanted to see a budget build because I only know really expensive componenets and honestly they do not need that

#

I will look for a cheap 27 inch monitor with 120 hz or so so it's less straining on the eyes.. if it can be powered to 120 with that configuration?

#

As for printer, it won't matter since it will break down in 1-2 years 100%. I will just get them something to help them print out their school assignments.

#

Like 200-300 lei

proud bloom
proud bloom
#

Thank you again!

proud bloom
#

What about the Ryzen 5600? I heard it's really good value for the money but this 4600g processor seems insane too. They can even run games off of it

dusk quest
#

best i can do

#

@proud bloom

dusk quest
#

i'd recommend used

#

but u dont want that

#

u could just buy used dell optiplexs and put ssds on them

#

although new mini pcs sound like a good solution

#

like this

dusk quest
#

75-90 or 75-120

#

i had a 60hz monitor that could overclock to 120hz without frameskipping

ember lagoon
#

pricier

tranquil temple
#

128gb ssd should be enough for just docs and slides and personally I think something like a ryzen 3200g would be better unless you want them to be able to play heavy games better

tranquil temple
ember lagoon
#

yeah

tranquil temple
#

Bruh

proud bloom
proud bloom
#

I will have to decide between these two builds

#

As for the monitor, I can look to get one that I can overclock but usually the 120-144hz ones are not that much more expensive

ember lagoon
proud bloom
ember lagoon
#

size is fine

proud bloom
#

I will go with your list WoopyMan, it's the closest to my initial vision. You fit 16 gb in and a psu from seasonic

#

Thank you so so much ❤️ I will keep this opened in case I have more questions

ember lagoon
#

since its for school work and stuff, doesnt need that much stuff

dusk quest
#

yeah

proud bloom
#

It's 24 inches though, would have preferred something bigger, 27 for instance

dusk quest
#

its way above average

#

also what is the budget for monitors

ember lagoon
dusk quest
#

yeah

#

u should have 27 inch for 2k/4k monitors

#

1080p on a 27 inch monitor isnt ideal

#

24 inch isnt that small

proud bloom
ember lagoon
dusk quest
proud bloom
#

Hmm

dusk quest
#

and where are you buying it

#

@proud bloom

proud bloom
#

Maybe it's better if I get two of those?

#

Wherever it's cheaper, but emag i think

ember lagoon
#

you can probably fit 2 pcs and peripherals depending on the printer

dusk quest
#

how many pcs are u buying

proud bloom
#

Either one or two, depending on the budget. The budget for now is 4500 lei so $1000

dusk quest
#

wow nice

proud bloom
#

Besides the components and the monitors I have to consider: keyboard, mouse, microphone, headphones, webcam

dusk quest
#

but sadly i cant find the parts i wanted

#

it doesnt have some stuff

ember lagoon
#

3800 for pcs
and another 1000 for monitors.. dang

dusk quest
#

is that enough

ember lagoon
#

yeah prob gonna have to buy only 1

ember lagoon
dusk quest
#

where are u from

ember lagoon
#

romania

proud bloom
#

That is fine guys, even one is more than they have at the moment and would be a huge help. Would rather them have one complete setup than two setups that are missing things

ember lagoon
#

yeah you can buy 1 now and 1 later on if you wanted to

proud bloom
#

Yes, I am just wondering if one monitor will suffice or I should get two

ember lagoon
#

one is probably enough

proud bloom
#

Okay

#

For the mouse I would probably go for a razer deathadder. v 2. see if I can find one for cheap

dusk quest
#

is this for school

#

or gaming

#

i would recommend

#

the

#

hm

ember lagoon
#

im sure the kids would be happy with cheaper stuff

proud bloom
#

School but I will be honest, they would be REALLY happy if they could game on it lightly during the holidays

dusk quest
#

maybe a redragon k552

#

lightly

proud bloom
#

But MAINLY school. That is primary focus

dusk quest
#

but ur going with such hardcore gaming stuf

#

like

proud bloom
#

I know, this is why I need help lol

ember lagoon
#

yeah youre going a bit overboard

#

a kid for 150 lei that has mouse keyboard and headphones will probably suffice tbh

dusk quest
#

or without headphones

ember lagoon
#

i know how its like not the best stuff but..

dusk quest
#

if the monitor has speaakers

#

well i'd say mechanical keyboard would be fine

#

but maybe not a gaming mouse

ember lagoon
dusk quest
#

pc part picker is limited

ember lagoon
#

yea it only has pcgarage

dusk quest
#

in romania

#

could u ship overseas?

#

the parts

ember lagoon
#

i guess, but why would you

dusk quest
#

could get access to better pricese

ember lagoon
#

shipping would cost more than the products

proud bloom
#

The prices are okay infinity, compared to the price picker i actually saved about 100 lei

proud bloom
dusk quest
#

well

ember lagoon
#

yeah i get it

dusk quest
#

@proud bloom

proud bloom
#

I know a microphone for 80 lei that is very good

dusk quest
#

nice budget keyboard

#

idk how much it is

#

cause it wont load

#

its mechanical too

ember lagoon
dusk quest
#

u also get good stuff

ember lagoon
dusk quest
#

why cant i load emag

proud bloom
#

230 lei

dusk quest
#

yeah

proud bloom
#

Mousepad too, not bad

dusk quest
#

is that good enough

#

k552 is a really good mechanical keyboard

#

its liked by many people of the world

#

best budget keyboard

#

mouse is okay

#

headset is okay

#

its mostly the keyboard

#

should suffice

#

also doesnt look like over the top gaming stuff

#

so suitable for school

ember lagoon
#

ok maybe not over the top

dusk quest
#

yeah

ember lagoon
#

but its clear who is the target audience

dusk quest
#

still looks like gaming stuff

proud bloom
#

I mean you have a red dragon all over everything but still

dusk quest
#

its cheap

proud bloom
#

I mean it's not like i want them to have bland grey stuff

#

I just want them to have quality stuff

dusk quest
proud bloom
#

That kit looks pretty nice for the money

dusk quest
#

atleast it doesnt look like the mues in the midle

#

middle*

proud bloom
#

I was looking at something from steelseries as well

dusk quest
#

thats over the top gaming stuff

#

steelseries is pretty good

ember lagoon
proud bloom
#

Looks so uncomfortable lol

#

I will strongly consider this kit infinity, thank you

#

For less than the keyboard i wanted to get I can get a lot more stuff

#

And I can put the difference towards a webcam

#

And a printer

dusk quest
#

maybe find a monitor with a webacm

#

mostly i see them in all in one pcs

#

but there are some monitors with webcams

#

like this

#

whatever the price is

proud bloom
#

That is SO expensive

#

Better to buy that LG and get the webcam separately

dusk quest
#

oh

proud bloom
#

That monitor is like $200

#

More, 250

dusk quest
#

wow

ember lagoon
#

you can buy resealed lol

dusk quest
#

yeah he wants it to look like a gaming pc

#

i think

proud bloom
#

Well, gaming stuff is usually more quality.. rather than microsoft keyboards and mouse
