Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air ATX Mid Tower
I probably should have mentioned that I own every part on this list besides the CPU, and GPU, do you think the setup is good as it is? or is the board bad? any suggestions would help, my budget is around 1k for a gpu and cpu.
buying off amazon or new egg, no good pc part stores near me

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, GeForce RTX 4070
also reason I don’t prefer AMD is because I know nothing about it, always has nvidia so it’s easier for me to choose
yeah would have been nice to mention that
yeah if you plan on keeping that psu, 4070 is the best option
i mean upgrading the psu if needed i can do
Get a 6950xt and a psu
Is everything else like from your previous setup or did you buy it recently?
6950xt is around 20% faster but im not sure about cad cost
No, these are parts that have been in my pc for almost 2 years, but they all work fine
it’s around 900 and the 4070 is 800
$859 cad
for which
6950xt
where you seeing that price
This list was usd
Only problem imo is that 5600x might bottleneck these higher end cards however the new 7600 won't
It might be fine till 3070 and 6800 but anything higher 5600x might bottleneck
5600x is fine for any last gen cpu at 1440p ultra
it's a solid 140fps cpu on average
the new gen ones pull around 200fps on average
I've never seen anyone get anything over a 3070 with a 5600x
ive seen plenty get a 5600 with a 6800xt, and 6950xt
it's a good cpu if the games aren't very cpu or cache intensive
Ok if it won't bottleneck then getting a 6950xt will be fine but he might need a new psu
what's the psu
for upwards of a 300w gpu it's fine, so nothing above 4070ti tbh
Must atleast go 750 imo there can be spikes
went through it, can’t find any reasonable prices for the 6950xt
maybe if i wait but thats going to be a while probably
The 100$ difference between the 4070 and the 6950xt might not be the greatest difference but the 6950xt must be cheaper than the 4070 or the same imo
@grand chasm
the 6950xt length is 340mm, while my case can support up to 344mm, do you think that would work well or would the case be a little cramped for it?
case: cooler master MB311L
it’s for sure cutting it close
its cutting it way too close
now i’m torn apart, i like the performance of the 6950xt but If i had buy that and a new case it would be a solid 250 atleast more than i would spend on a 4070, any idea what you would do?
also micro atx boards can fit in normal atx mid tower cases right?
yeah
There probably are shorter 6950xts
only found one shorter one for 1100, looked everywhere and even pc part picker is telling me there are non available
upgrading my pc couldn’t be any harder
yeah hard to find 6950xt models
like i found a nice case, but then i also need to buy fans with it since it only comes with you and then a whole bunch of stuff
theyre all out of production i think so the stock is scarce
why not use the fans you already have
you can try ig fitting it? and if it doesnt work you can just buy another case
just say the name of the case
currently cooler master mb311l, the one i’m looking at is corsair 4000d airflow
120mm front
already comes with 2 fans as well
yeah i’d be set
now i’d have to see how to do the cables, made my pc but the rgb never worked on my fans
idk what plug goes where or if a controller is needed
@hardy parcel Hey got a quick question and maybe you know, my current motherboard (AsRock B450M pro4) is currently using a ryzen 5 2600, when I get my new cpu (ryzen 5 5600x) do you think I should update the motherboard bios? and if so how should i do it?
it tells me it’s not recommended to update the motherboard if a certain type cpu is in it, which of course falls under the 2600 cpu
always update it
and nothing will happen right? even though it says not recommended?
just trying to be extra cautious
i dont see why it wouldnt be recommende
did you buy the mobo before the 5600x release
that’s a very good question
it’s around the same time
could be after
around 2021 maybe?
i feel like it was after,
really got me thinking
is there a way of doing that without taking the cpu out again?
do you have bios flashback
you can prob put the cpu cooler loosely on it so you dont need to repaste every time
i don’t know, i don’t know what that does
allows you to update bios without a cpu in/with cpu in
i wouldnt pointlessly ask
yeah you dont
before i even do all that my ram is currently stuck at 2133, my pc spam reboots when i put it any higher so i think my cpu is out of date or my motherboard… any ideas?
sorry for all the questions
installing adrenaline rn to see if i can update my cpu (yes i know i haven’t updated it)
i assume the ram can run higher speeds
oh wait
yeah 3200
yeah all spam reboots, haven’t tried lower only up
zen+?
sorry im trying to understand
2600 architecture is zen+ isnt it
yeah
google seems to say so
based on zen+ microarchitecture
is there a fix for that? or just wait it out until i upgrade you think?
no idea
none work
2133 is the highest
just updated my bios and everything too @tender patrol
did u turn on expo or wtv?
nothing changed and its frustering that I dont even know what dosent work
i cant spell ik^
uhhh no idea what that is
