I helped my friend build a low budget pc with used parts a while ago. Everything has been fine with until recently. He went to turn the pc on and it blue screened while booting with the error code saying “critical process died.” I told him to let it be (we are roommates) and it would go into recovery. It then restarted and now is showing the boot drive as not discoverable. I tried restarting from scratch and it did the same thing. The drive is brand new and the pc is on Windows 10. From a little research I have been doing, it is saying to run SFC and DSIM but I am not sure how to boot into safe mode to even attempt that.

Hardware List
Mobo - N/A
CPU - N/A
RAM - Corsair Vengeance ddr 16gb
GPU - msi gtx 1650 super
PSU - Corsair cx550

I am trying to get the info for the motherboard and cpu at the moment and will update the post as soon as I have that info.

yes

you can also run SFC and DSIM from yours

make sure you have the drive with your OS as the main one since you are just checking if this one is functional

if the drive is dead i would consider RMA

Ok. So drive shows up on functioning pc. I dism and sfc and made it into the login then pc locks up and I can’t do anything. I turn off the pc and then restart and it reverts back to bsod issue. Maybe a bad driver causing an issue?

Yes software, bad os, faulty hardware can cause bsod but I will recommend you to reinstall the windows somehow.

You have to be sure it's a bad driver or not by reinstalling windows.

I would but now the drive is no longer working at all. Checked multiple times on several devices. Time to rma. Thank you for the help everyone.
