hey all, i'm putting together a list of parts for my first pc ever self built pc and i was hoping to get some feedback from the community.

here's a link to the build, but i'll type a list of the parts too - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZQtFfy

CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor
Cooler - Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM
MOBO - MSI PRO B550-VC ATX AM4 Motherboard
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory (two of these for a total 32gb)
SSD - Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME
GPU - MSI GAMING X TRIO Radeon RX 6750 XT 12 GB
Case - Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU - Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX
Fans - ARCTIC P12 56.3 CFM 120 mm Fans 5-Pack

pcpartpicker currently has the price totaled at $1316.31 USD. i do have wiggle room in the budget but i would really prefer to stay around that mark.

my use case is mostly gaming, but i do occasionally stream and would like to have some room for video editing. my main concerns are getting the right cooler for my system and also getting a good cpu/gpu pair. i currently use a 1080p tv but would like the power to move up to 1440p with a higher refresh rate than 60hz. i don't have a particular theme in mind but would prefer as little rgb as possible, though i suppose i could be talked into it if they had blacklights or something similar.

thank you for your time and have a good day :D

gpu is around 35% faster at 1440p

#

cpu im not sure tbh, its surely faster than the 5900x since the 12700k beats the 5900x, and the 13600k beats the 12700k

#

and you have a bit more upgradability

i would like to avoid asus/gigabyte

#

how's about this

polar oxide
#

dont cross ram sticks either

#

btw you cant overclock on a non z board

#

ddr5 is faster on 13600k

#

if you really want 4 sticks then get a 4x8 kit

#

dont cross ram it can cause issues

rancid canopy
#

even if they're the exact same?

polar oxide
rancid canopy
#

they have the same part #

polar oxide
#

but theyre still different

rancid canopy
#

and link to the same page

polar oxide
#

not all memory is made the same

#

same with cpus and gpus

#

even if theyre the same model

#

the manufacturer could use chips from two different companies fo rexample

#

thats not uncommon

#

so one ram kit could use a different type of chip than the other kit

#

making them not compatible

rancid canopy
#

its just rather annoying that a 4x8 kit is 80 while buying 2 2x8 is like 60

polar oxide
#

but it really doesnt look ugly

#

2x 16 is even cheaper at $48

rancid canopy
#

i want all 4 filled because only having 2 and 4 filled would bug the crap out of me

#

out of all the slots on a pc

#

empty ram just makes me sad

#

also i should mention there is currently no microcenter near me

#

it doesnt open until 2024 D:

#

i've looked up other pc part stores near me but they seem.. dubious at best

#

hmmm

#

the only thing i dont like about the case is the fact that i cant seem to find replacement side panels anywhere

rancid canopy
#

i think i will stick with the corsair case over the montech

#

mostly for accessibility to replacement parts

#

if anybody knows of a case brand that sells extra side panels on their website thats cheaper than a corsair 4000d im open to suggestions :D

#

i also would like to clarify i have no interest in overclocking

#

im more than fine with the default speeds

#

im currently using ddr3 1200 in my current rig i think?

#

i dunno havent looked at my ram speed in a while

#

i know thats not exactly correlatable but its just to give an example that the extra performance from overclocking isnt my priority

#

i also dont really care about upgradability, i've had my current pc for 7-8 years now and i'm hoping to make this one last about as long

#

oh and

#

this is what im at right now

Filling 2 dimms or 4 dimms, two 2packs or one 4pack... It really doesnt matter all that much. We're talking maybe 2% difference in performance. And those 2% can go either way lol. Nothing really noticeable.

what the hell 4x8gb in 2023

for the price of ddr5

You mean exactly the same panels as the case comes with? Corsair always makes extras at launch. But once sold out they wont restock. So if you really want an extra, u better order it rather soon than late.

it wouldnt have to be the exact same ones per say but repairability is definitely on my mind

#

im not a major clutz or anything but i really prefer having the peace of mind knowing i can just get a replacement panel instead of having to order another case just for a side panel

calm moat
#

I once had the idea to engrave the sidepanel. But then I thought: I better first order a 2nd panel, just in case it shatters during the engraving or for resell purposes. But it was out of stock already (about 1 year after the launch of the case).
