#Screen doesn't turn on, AMD GPU

Basically this has happened only twice to me right now, before I start this is my PC:

ASRock B550M Phantom Gaming 4
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X MPK
Kingston FURY Beast Black 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz
Samsung 980 NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB
PowerColor Fighter AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12G
GIGABYTE UD750GM

So I turn on my PC, everything lights up, I see the fans for everything EXCEPT the GPU move, I can hear from my headset the music that is coming from my wallpaper engine, so the PC is clearly working I just don't see any visuals

For some reason the first time I fixed it, I plugged in a USB Flash Drive with Windows on it and went into the Bios, after that I launched in Safe Mode and it worked, a month or so passed and I just got the same issue today but the USB Flash Drive trick didn't get the job done, so I checked all the cables, plugged, unplugged, the GPU, everything, then I unplugged 1 RAM stick and plugged it back in and it worked? Not sure how that makes any sense, but I have a feeling it's a GPU issue, some people did warn about AMD GPUs so this might be it.

Any thoughts? Seems like a software issue to me, any input is greatly appreciated!

Let me know if I missed something

is it still under warenty?

Yeah

#

I got it 3 months ago..

meager prairie
#

I would try to rma it then

toxic seal
#

Do you think it's guaranteed a GPU issue?

meager prairie
#

well, the pc worked, but the gpu fans didnt spin up on boot

#

which they should

toxic seal
#

The PC is on now and they still aren't spinning

meager prairie
#

thats normal. when not playing a game, the gpu is usually cool enough for the fans to turn off

meager prairie
toxic seal
#

Nope

#

I tried shutting it down now to test

#

Black screen again

toxic seal
#

Unplugged everything held the power button for 10 sec

#

Nothing again

toxic seal
#

Got it to work after unplugging stuff again

#

This time I noticed the gpu fans spun

#

When I turned it on

#

I shut it down to try again

#

They didn't spin so just a black screen

#

I read something about cmos

toxic seal
#

Managed to turn it on again, while it's still turned on maybe there is some troubleshooting I can do? Re-install windows etc?

meager prairie
#

Hmmmm

toxic seal

It's so strange because if it was really the GPU that was dead or something, I wouldn't be typing this right now, it's just random

It honestly could be that you just have a loose connection.

#

Reseat the graphics card and make sure the powercable is connected properly.

toxic seal
#

I did unplug it a few times and plugged it back in

#

And what do you mean reseat?

snow delta
#

Like, physically take the graphics card out of the PCI-E port and install it back in.

toxic seal
#

I set it to factory settings from the amd adrenalin

snow delta
#

Same with the powercables running into the graphics card

toxic seal
#

okay i might remove it entirely then if it happens again

snow delta
#

Yeah there is a difference, since the graphics card communicates through the PCI-E port as well as pulls some of the current required for proper operation

toxic seal
#

alright i'll do it if it happens again although for some reason i think it's a software issue

#

since i literally just restart the pc

#

until the screen turns on lol

toxic seal
#

Tried this didn't work

toxic seal
#

Re-installed windows, installed drivers using the amd auto detect and installed everything, windows entirely up to date

#

seems to have solved it for now

#

But this always happens after the PC has been off for a night I guess

#

So will know for sure tomorrow

pallid aspen
#

go into the monitors setting screen and turn off deepsleep if yes

toxic seal
#

but i also tested the monitor by connecting it to my laptop and it works

#

and it never had this issue

pallid aspen
#

wait wrong support chat

toxic seal
#

been using this monitor for a long time

pallid aspen
#

but this will fix an issue of your screen not turning on for some dell monitor users

#

lol

toxic seal

Same issue even after reinstalling windows

#

Guess I'll send it back

Btw did you ever try using a different cable? I had a bad DisplayPort cable and had similar issues
