Can someone help I've been trying to fix this for 3 days, ever since I installed the io shield my motherboard won't align with any standoffs in the case at all. I keep getting told its too far away from the IO shield but if I try to move it any closer then I won't be able to screw it in at all, I have it as close as it can get

The I/O shield is optional

#

Send some pics, though

Is it really? Also sure hold on

#

The first one was from earlier this one was from a few minutes ago sorry I know they look almost exactly the same 😭

#

I've tried everything it won't go in

What about the standoff screw holes

wraith plinth
#

I can't move them anywhere else

Something to keep in mind here - The back of your motherboard isn't invincible. You should be sliding it around the standoffs as little as possible

Oh sure

#

Damn this is kinda shit but I tried

blazing rampart
#

Is it really?
Yes, absolutely. All it really does it prevent you from accidentally sticking cables in between ports while plugging things in. Just be mindful and it's perfectly safe

I think the back of it is fine? I'm just concerned though

This center standoff is designed to poke through the motherboard instead of screwing in. Allowing you to align all the other screw holes. What happens when you use this standoff to align the board?

You can put some pressure on the I/O shield

wraith plinth
#

Ever since I put it In it either goes in and misalligns, or I can't put it through at all

blazing rampart
#

Locate the center hole in the motherboard, and poke this standoff through it

#

If you are unable to do this at all, remove the I/O shield and call it a day

wraith plinth
#

Should I send the back of my mobo just to make sure

blazing rampart
#

If you want to

#

What's done is done

wraith plinth
#

I think it's alright?

#

Nothing seems bent or missing when I look

blazing rampart
#

Yep you're fine

#

Just be careful moving forward, and do as I described with the center standoff

wraith plinth
#

Alright tysm! Im just gonna do what you said so I can finish the build, this is what's been keeping me from plugging in the PSU this whole time

blazing rampart
#

Again, you can put some pressure on the I/O plate. It can help to line up the ports with the I/O at an angle, then lower down the motherboard onto that center peg/standoff

#

Like the screws

#

Aren't tightening

stable haven
#

I’m also having trouble lining it up lol

#

There might be two

#

Different types

stable haven
#

Is it msi

Oh

wraith plinth
#

This is so frustrating I've been trying for 3 days

#

Oh fuck

#

I think it actually was the screws

#

I kept using these tiny as hell ones

#

These slightly bigger ones fit in

#

@stable haven did you check yours

stable haven
#

Wdym

wraith plinth
#

Like did you try using a different type

stable haven
#

Oh no my problem is I can’t get it aligned with io and standoffs

#

But I’m gonna remove the fan above the motherboard and try to push some the the Io little prongs out more

Ehhh i feel like the motherboard should withstand some minor movement

#

I guess we will see if it boots lol

You're begging to damage a trace.

Locate the center hole in the motherboard, and poke this standoff through it
So did you ever do this or no?
