Hello there. Just like the title says, a friend of mine is building a PC with a budget of 1.5K to 2.0K (not sure how the PCPartPicker price compares to the real one, we both live in Greece). They want it to be able to game, but will probably use it a lot of college stuff, so a casual to good gaming PC should do the trick, no need for some 4K thing, max resolution we'll go for is probably 1440p and max frame rate is probably 144Hz. Regardless, they want a PC that will last and won't need to be replaced any time soon. The budget they are going for should include peripherals (mouse, keyboard, and monitor) as well. Here is a link to the list that I made which is just hovering over the high-end of the budget (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Batman212369/saved/Dw8qdC). Any suggestions, corrections, and changes would be greatly appreciated. I thank you all for your help and time, they are truly appreciated.

(Only peripheral which "technically" can't be changed is the mouse as it was a specific request)

Ah, I was not aware there are ones for other countries, I thought it was only that one. I'll try to remake it on the EU one later. Do keep the suggestions flowing though, they will be of great help.

I got this great quote from a fellow enthusiast regarding futureproofing

Exactly

cobalt mulch
#

all you can do is get decent parts for the present

#

and upgrade in the future

#

like the 4090 now will be a mediocre card in 2026

#

like how the 1080ti is mediocre now

lament crane
#

Yep

lament crane
#

That’s also why $1000-$1500 is such a great price range

#

Like literally always

cobalt mulch
#

honestly 1k is the sweet spot for pc building

lament crane
#

Yeah

#

I’ve literally experienced “futureproofing is dead” first hand. My 3050 was worth $350 in May of 2022. Now that same $350 would buy a 3060 12GB now

cobalt mulch
#

lmfao

#

thats why im getting a 5700 xt

#

mainly cuz its cheap af

lament crane
#

Nice lol

cobalt mulch
#

its around 150 bucks on ebay

lament crane
#

Dang

cobalt mulch
#

and its better than a 3060

#

yeah im selling my old system to build a better one

# lament crane “They want a pc that will last” Don’t futureproof your pc. Buy the components ...

Well, the money they are getting is for getting into college. The PC will be a gift from their father. They don't plan on upgrading it and probably will drive it till its very last breath, even if it means that they'll have to be running on a worse system in the last years of the PC's lifetime. They simply want the best they can get for the price range that there is and use it for as long as possible. I did mention that they could go the route of buying cheaper now and upgrading later, but they said that this is what they want.

but 3060 has rt and all that crap

#

tho on techpowerup it isnt

cobalt mulch
#

5700xt is like 130-160 usd used

#

but it doesnt have rt and dlss and all that crap

#

but great raw gaming performance for the price

#

lmao you could get 2 rx 5700 xt used for the price of a 3060

#

only main difference besides rt is vram is 8 gigs

# lament crane Bruh, that’s stupid

There is no stupid. That 2K is probably accumilated over 5 - 10 years of work. Greece doesn't have that good of an economy. Another friend of mine is running on a PC with DDR2 RAM. He literally does not have the money to upgrade and when he does, it goes out of his savings. That is the reality of the situation.
