can you send a picture of whats between the heatspreader and the SSD?
whats the heat spreader ?
the alluminium/metallic part that you are trying to screw in
is this what you mean ?
i installed the ssd
and then put the cover from the motherboard on top of it
and now it wont screw back in
this thing
did the SSD come with that pre included?
also I think I know what's goin on
set aside the metallic piece for now, as in take it off, and put the SSD in. that lil plastic thing in there is supposed to latch some way or another to the SSD
and methinks it wasn't latched in, so it prevented you from screwing it in
gotta figure out how to latch it in
they probably just stuck it in and thought it was fine
you gotta push it down, then you put the heatsink on top and screw
you dont wanna take off the sticky parts no.
||~~that's what I meant, but phrased it in a way that doesn't sound discouraging to people new to building PCs. i.e. assigning blame/fault 💀 ~~||
fair enough
very shrimple. read the manual on how to latch this into the SSD
should say in your motherboard's manual
take the heatsink from the motherboard off,
take out the ssd,
put the SSD back in,
make sure to push it down as far as it can go
attach heatsink and screw
pull it off.
dont try fiddle around with the thermal pad/s
just make sure you can get the SSD off the pad.
its the same thing as the CPU Cooler. you have the thermal paste in between the CPU Heatspreader and the Cooler so it can transfer the heat away. this ones just less important since its an SSD
ok so do you have the SSD and the heatsink seperated?
yes
can you push it down into the little clip thing?
there we go. thats the ticket.
tysm for the help
then i'm guessing the Screw screws in there and then the heatsink goes on
Magnificent, whats next. attaching the CPU Cooler?
yep
im watching a guide
what cooler are you using?
is it ok to ping u if i need help ?
yea, ping in here
do you have Paste?
got the thermal paste too
yep
hmm. don't know exactly about that one, i've heard that hydronaut is better for longevity sicne it doesnt dry out or seperate as fast or something. eh doesnt matter.
thing is we have paste. make sure you paste first.
and also when you are about to put the cooler on., make sure the little peel on the bottom is removed. its a common mistake anyone can make.
ok thank you
cause some people will be finsihed building and their experience will go something like "Ok new system lets game" and they start a game and their temps are at 100 and they are like "Why do my temps suck this CPU/Cooler sucks" until they read a forum that tells them they maybe forgot the peel and thats the issue.
iirc, AM4 coolers are AM5 compatable
yep. thermal paste goes on the CPUs heatspreader
oki
i'll be off for an hour or so, be right back
did you try?
i just have to life the fan up
