You need a bios update, your motherboard probably doesn't natively support a chip with an integrated GPU.

#

You'll need a USB stick with the new Bios, and hope your board has a button to update its firmware without a support CPU inside (like mine has).

#

thank you, yeah this is my first amd system so didn't even jump to that conclusion

deft grove
#

No problem.

glass ivy
#

assuming i should look on the board manufacturers website for BIOS update?

deft grove
#

Yeah.

#

Hope you got a laptop or an old PC to fetch it.

glass ivy
#

It's an Auros board so has Q-Flash Bios function

deft grove
#

Though, I'm really surprised you got an AIO, but no dedicated GPU .

#

How much RAM do you have though?

glass ivy
#

this is a 2nd pc build my main system can be seen in the background where this M-ITX system is powered

#

16gb

deft grove
#

For an APU, I'd recomment having 2x32 at the very least and give 12gb of it to your integrated GPU.

this new PC is going to be for multimedia, light video editing and will be put into my new motorbike garage workshop mancave,

deft grove
#

Windows is gonna crawl.

glass ivy
#

Really? My main system is older 7th gen i7 and 32gb and runs flawless still

#

is 5600G and 16GB going to be noticable?

deft grove
#

... Though video editing really will require more ram than 16gb total for your APU, since even eight gigabytes of VRAM doesn't really cut it on my 2070 SUPER.

glass ivy
#

sorry its an 8700K im running

deft grove
#

The Vega graphics integrated into AMD's APUs are surprisingly good though, you just need to feed them enough RAM.

glass ivy
#

I have a 1060 GTX 6GB thats not being used which i could shoehorn into this case

deft grove
#

Hmm...

#

Well, if you CAN make it fit...

#

You'd probably need a ryzer though.

glass ivy
#

my main system was ugraded to a 3060 RTX so i have a working 1060 that could go in

deft grove
#

... Which the case accepts.

glass ivy
#

the case comes with a vertical mount

deft grove
#

Saw that.

glass ivy
#

and flexi adaptor

deft grove
#

You could put in the 1060 in yeah, that would allow you to run off 16 gb of RAM - as long as you don't have any bloatware.

deft grove
#

Still, for video editing, I'm not too sure how 6gb of VRAM will fair.

#

Give it a shot first before upgrading the RAM though, it might just work for your usecase.

glass ivy
#

yeah i dont plan on gaming, certainly not AAA titles on this just watching youtube videos in the workshop, netflix, music and maybe some light editing for vlogs etc

deft grove
#

Oh yeah that'll do just fine.

#

You may not even need the GPU in the end.

glass ivy
#

my main system will be first choice for editing, 8700K 32GB and 3060 RTX, older spec but still floats through anything i put at it

deft grove
#

(Though, I'm surprised you didn't pair your 3060 with the 5600g, those two would have been a lot more powerful together than with the 8700k.)

glass ivy
#

i did think this but tbh cause this new system is going out to the garage i want to keep the nicer card for my home office lol

deft grove
deft grove
#

Or is there a reason you can't?

glass ivy
#

hrm, not really, i think because thats a normal atx board there is alot more connectivity, i have a high end wifi card, usb3 pcie card and 4 dim slots which i have filled out to 32GB
also running 2x M2 ssds and 2x 3.5 SSDs

#

i'd need considerable investment to upgrade the ryzen system to a spec level i would be happy with to make it my main system

deft grove
#

Hmm... You'd only really need a motherboard upgrade to ATX though, and you would be able to keep everything else. Your Intel motherboard would be too big to fit in that new case though...

#

Yeah, I can see why you don't wanna bother.

glass ivy
#

tbh i started stockpiling these parts for a gaming APU pc since like 2022 so the parts have been sitting for amost a year and its only now that im converting garage into a workshop that i finally decided to put it together

#

the other option was to pick up an old used Dell optiplex PC but keep getting let down from sellers and kinda feels a shame this stuff gathering dust so figures i might as well build this for garage as all the parts are paid for and sitting here anyway, even though its overkill for the purpose haha

#

i'll probably look into the BIOS flashing tomorrow as it's late here but appreciate the conversation and the heads up on the reflash. GN
