A good tip is to find the best GPU within your budget, and then find a CPU that just needs to not bottleneck the gpu (to get the most gaming performance per dollar)

i said that i have rx 580 rn and i will upgrade later

#

i just dont know what cpu should i get for this one and the future one

jaunty oyster
#

Yeah, an AMD 5600 can slightly bottleneck a 6600 xt or a 3060 ti, but it depends on the workload

#

But it wont bottleneck an rx 580

sturdy reef
#

and for the motherboard something like b550?

jaunty oyster
#

its also possible to use a b450 board

sturdy reef
#

doesnt that have like older bios?

jaunty oyster
#

its of course a bit older generation and may require a bios update, but with new bios updates they do support ryzen 5000

#

They also come with PCIe 3.0 but this will not hinder any gaming performance (even from high end cards)

#

Depending on how tight your budget is I would either opt for a b450 or b550

sturdy reef
#

well if i ever go for better cpu then i have to get new motherboard no matter what right?

jaunty oyster
#

Yes, because b450 and b550 both use the AM4 socket, while newer amd CPUS use the AM5 socket

#

The entirety of ryzen 5000 is supported on the AM4 socket, but newer ryzen 7000 require the AM5 socket

sturdy reef
#

well it should last for few years at that point i will be ending school and i will have a job so its fine ig

#

but im still not sure if i should go 5500 or 5600

#

i saw test with 5500 and rtx 3060ti and it looked fine

gritty valley
#

if you can afford to get a 3060ti then def get the 5600 over the 5500

jaunty oyster
#

It really depends on the workload, but if its anything CPU intensive it will bottleneck your GPU if you go for a 5500

gritty valley
#

only case where i'd take the 5500 is if its like.. the difference between getting a 6600 and 6600xt/6650xt/7600

sturdy reef
#

well i like more amd so i will go with 6600 or 6600xt

#

so i will take 5500 ig

#

and then some version of 450b or 550b

gritty valley
#

you'll need to get something that has bios flashback as well

#

what country are you in?

sturdy reef
#

czech republic

jaunty oyster
#

the 5500 vs 5600 wont be a huge different, still noticeable for CPU heavy tasks, but for a GPU heavy task neither will bottleneck an RTX 3060 ti or 6600 xt

gritty valley
#

and what exactly are you buying? just cpu, mobo and ram?

sturdy reef
#

also im close to germany

gritty valley
#

do you have to pay any extra fees

sturdy reef
gritty valley
#

oh wow the price gap between the 5500 and 5600 is pretty large in CZ

sturdy reef
#

yea it is

#

but still better than food prices

sturdy reef

well i use ethernet but it could be nice if i have to move pc

sturdy reef
#

i was just looking at that rn

jaunty oyster
#

There is a variant that is iirc 60 kc cheaper but it has 2 ram slots less

#

and also slightly different other functions

sturdy reef
#

60 kc is nothing

gritty valley
#

they're both pretty uh

#

bad

#

a520m plus has better vrms

#

more shrouding

#

only downside is no PBO but shrug

jaunty oyster
# gritty valley bad

I know, he said he was on tight budget, and this has alright price to performance

#
  • has bios flashback button

@sturdy reef could you link some other CZ tech retailers? PCPP only indexes alza so I want to make sure you're getting the best prices/options

jaunty oyster
#

If he has an older AM4 CPU he could update bios himself though

#

@sturdy reef did you also need RAM?

sturdy reef
#

yea i need new one but it doesnt matter for me that much

I see

gritty valley

mb the wifi version has it

#

not the regular

jaunty oyster
#

ah

gritty valley
#

there might be some alternatives on those other sites, ill check em out

sturdy reef
#

well i dont really need wifi its just that i dont want to move the cable

jaunty oyster
#

It costs about 200 kc more for wifi + bios flashback

sturdy reef
#

thats fine

#

that like 8 euros

jaunty oyster
#

I would probably recommend 16 GB

#

and 8 GB as the bare minimum

sturdy reef
#

yes i will go 16 but you dont have to worry about that

jaunty oyster
#

You already got it solved? Sounds good

sturdy reef
#

i was just not sure about motherboard

jaunty oyster
#

This the the aproximate price for the two parts, I would however recommend looking at more retailers like amazon.de and local retailers, to try and find better prices / deal
