#PC struggling to keep wifi connection

i hve a prebuilt PC and since ive gotton it it has always struggled to keep wifi but as of recently i cant even hold a 15 min discord call without it disconnecting, i also cannot play multiplayer games without suffering or being kicked from them ( example dayz i cannot play that at all anymore) but the weird thing is my brothers PC has no issues with wifi and he is able to stay in calls and play multiplayer all day without a problem, my xbox is the same but for some reason my pc is horrible with keeping wifi.

any fixes to get my PC to be better with keeping a wifi connection

Do you have wifi antennae sticking out the back?

Oftentimes, the Wifi card is slotted into the motherboard between a bunch of metal components. So of course, the signal is gonna be ass. The solution is usually to screw in antenna into the gold terminals on the back of the motherboard, where your USB and display outputs are

Good chance your brother's PC either 1) Has a better antenna 2) Is in a better position to maintain a connection with the router

the router is right above the downstairs living room so i think me and my brother are in equal lengths from it

just like sound, it's not only the distance, but also the things immediately around it (and what they're made of) that affect signal

Identifying your antenna is step 1 here

If there's no antenna, you'll see gold pegs at the back of the PC

If there are antennae, they'll be plugged into those pegs like this

Ok so HP is using some funky OEM solution to integrating Wifi here

There is neither a rear I/O port for wifi, nor is there a PCIe wifi card

#

The solution here is to buy a better wifi card

You either need a USB wifi adapter, or PCIe one. It depends on if your motherboard has a space PCIe slot below the GPU (and if you're confident enough to dig around in there)
