#PC Building Help: 1.2k budget

I'm new to pc building and I want to build my own PC. I've been using gaming laptops for a while, and wanted something that I can upgrade overtime, rather than having to buy a new laptop to run the latest games.

My budget is max 1.2k, and I also don't mind if it reaches above 1.2k slightly. Here's an idea of what I'm going for: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8xkfsL

I'm not going to be playing games at 4k or too high quality. I just want to be able to run games like Elden Ring on high settings and play games like COD on respectable settings so it looks good and doesn't stutter. My laptop currently throttles my CPU due to thermals and causes frame drops and stuttering, as well as full shutdown, so that is also why I'm looking for an upgrade

I'm going to continue to due more research, but if you can, let me know:
a) If there is a product that is cheaper but gets the job done just as well if not slightly worse
b) If there is a product that is more expensive but provides a huge game changer
c) If there is some products on my list that are total dogwater and needs to be replaced with something else
d) Any other tips or tricks to pc building/looking for good parts

a) If there is a product that is cheaper but gets the job done just as well if not slightly worse
Your case is on the expensive end, you could swap it out with something a lot cheaper

Unless you know you need 32GB RAM, you can cut down to 16
You don't need a super fast SSD either, especially for just gaming
With this you get a 4070

oh dang true, my laptop has 16gb and i've never had any ram problems. These are great suggestions, thanks for the input

btw the focus 2 has no psu shroud so the psu and cables would be exposed, you fine with that?
