#Linux apple earbuds microphone issues

I don’t think it’s an issue with apple if your using wired headphones are you sure your laptop supports microphone and headphones over the same port?
@floral pivot yes, on my laptop the mic is detected and works like expected. On my computer on the other hand the mic is detected, but all that you hear is static noise
Okay so pretty much based off what you’ve said it sounds like your PC doesn’t support combo jacks
on windows it does support it, so that's why I am wondering if is a driver issue on Linux, and I can fix it with a usb-c dongle
Yeah I guess it possible your missing the audio driver if you get a USB C that supports combo jack you probably wouldn’t need a driver
I'd start with checking to make sure your pulseaudio/pipewire audio configs are setup properly and do some basic troubleshooting/messing with things there
oh and btw, on my pc on linux other headsets do work
It's possible that it's trying to use an unsupported audio frequency from the eadbuds, which would likely result in static or no input
That’s not really a thing with analog headphones
Are they combo split or digital
Ive seen some pretty weird shit happen with linux in terms of audio setup
Me too but with analog it doesn’t matter what it’s set too it’ll be the same on all devices
just a regular 3.5mm thing, I guess that is a combo split
Like for the headsets that do work how many cables do you have to plug in?
also one
Okay can you count the rings on each of the jacks for each headset?
well euhm, one slight issue, the headset is burried somewhere around my house, since I don't use it anymore. The earbuds have 3 tho
BRUH, nvm, it is right next to me, I am actually blind
both have 3 rings
Okay my only thought then is it might not be plugged in all the way
Apple has some really tight tolerances so it’s hard to push them in all the way
nah, that can't be it, they work on windows, I reboot into Linux and the mic stops working.
maybe it is possible to copy the audio configuaration for the mic from my laptop to my computer?
Probably not as they likely have different drivers
hmmm, this could fix it right?

Sorry for the Dutch :p
Might possibly make it work, but considering they already work on windows, it's very likely just a software issue as i'd already stated
