#Partially Used AMD build.

they're saying that if they bought from pcpp links it would have came to around 1600
I think they got most of it used and paid 970
I might be wrong
im saying the pcpp part isnt representative of how much the parts actually are worth/cost
since i could literally spec out the same system with all new parts for less than 970 with all the same aesthetics
they could have gotten a smaller case too
for sure
lol who am I kidding
mine is worse
proof!
This is correct
Really I spent more money then needed on the case and aio because I wanna upgrade to the 5950x eventually
wait, is it 970? or 1600?
970
oh, then it’s great
It would’ve been 1600 if I bought it all new
gotcha
Is 970 fair?
Yea just a used drive or two and the cpu and gpu
the cpu i mean
150%
meh
My aio is super overkill I know this
Nah lol
Tbh I could went with about $200 less if I got a budget case and a dual tower air cooler
Ima upgrade to the 5950x eventually probably
5800x3d matches the 7800x in games
5950x is gonna be maybe even worse than ur cpu for games
the 7800x doesnt exist
I don’t care for am5 as literally everytbing is through the roof on pricing
the 5800x3d doesnt match the 7800x3d either
wdym?
the 5800x3d matches the 7600.
fr?
Theirs a i9 7800x lol
the 5800x3d will outgame a 5950x
If that’s what you’re referring to
but by the time your 5800x is lacking it'll be more worthwhile to switch to a new socket anyways
Other then the expensive case and aio tho I’d say its a decent buy. It would’ve been just about $650 then
i mean theres a 5800x
7800x3d
With what I do I’m sure the 5800x will more then provide use for several several years to come
gotcha
yeah so i wouldnt even consider the 5950x
by the time you'll want to upgrade a 6c/12t cpu will probably have the same multicore performance as it
Tbh I shoulda just went cheap on the aio and case 😂 but I like it so
wut?
i think you should get a smaller case tbh
what 6 core does he wanna upgrade to?
I wanted to fit a 360 aio
im giving an example
And found this for just over $100
for instance a 7700x (8c/16t) matches a 5900x (12c/24t) in multicore
i don't think any upgrade would be worth it
unless u flip ur 5800x
5800x will be good for a while
its just not super space efficient i guess
I could probably flip it for $1200 with the prices of similiar spec’d PCs around me
too much empty space in the case IMO
people still out there with skylakes
Breaths pretty good tho
And a lot of room for upgrading
I still rock a haswell as my rendering rig
wow
Dual Xeon Haswell
personally i would have gone with the jonsbo d41
I was just lucky to have cheap access
accommodates 360mm aios and is a whole lot more space efficient
Well Tbf I have more room near the pcie slots for filling tho
Which I plan to do with another gpu and a capture card
Streaming
he doesnt have dedicated encoders tho
he'd be hardware encoding
tbf, the 5800x probably streams just fine
yeah its just not optimal
typically you'd want at least an nvidia gpu or intel cpu with an iGPU if you're streaming
Just test with software first, might save you some cash
Why I have 2 gpus
can bet more ram, an ssd or something
i'd maybe get an arc a380 or something for encoding instead of a capture card, just cause it can do more
this
I have a 1080 ti ima throw in
I’ve Defo got enough room I’ve already checked
Plus that 6 fan aio pumps out some air
I haven’t even sorted it yet I gotta find the 1080 it’s in attic somewhere rip
is that ur build?
whoever mounted that aio needs a slap and education
unless he enjoys spongebob noises
sexy
its the matx version of that other case
Btw that case you recommended is another $50 more then what I paid for mine rip
I used to have a nice case but gave it to my lil bro
had to move country, couldn’t take it
I was gonna get that exact cooler and instead got the aio
just bought a shitty white corsair case
For me it’s $150
looks good tho
you can actually get a solid 360mm aio for $70
At newegg
thermalright frozen notte
nothing wrong with asetek
but they use an in-house design
that's actually pretty decent from what i've seen/heard
everything is wrong with them
apaltek is the aio OEM you want to look out for
but yes, they’re good aios
literally nothing
just a shitty corporation
they're just generic
they are trash
they think they can patent a pump on a block
they need to suck…
whatever
A lot of people use this aio to cool the 13900k sooo I was like why not lol
wdym?
asetek doesnt have the pump in the block?
The EK aio I have
EK Elite 360mm AIO
conclusion: as long as it doesn’t say ennermax on the box it should be fine
Yea I Defo could’ve went cheaper on the case and aio but other then that not too bad imo
bro, it’s a good price, and a great build
I just went a little higher end cause I didn’t mind the cost for a quality nickel platted water block
I wanna get cable extensions to clean it up too was looking at lian li and cable mods. But found Asian horse and antec white extensions were cheaper and decent reviews
i was an idiot when i was 12, accidentally bought mini itx for an atx case
about 10 years back
Yea the rgb died
wut
The bottom one is hanging on for dear life
It didn’t affect any of the others that are all in Daisy chain before and after
I got it from Newegg and ofc shittt newegg support told me to contact fractal design as they don’t have individual fans. But I looked on neweggs website and saw they Defo did have the exact fans that died sooooo
wtf
well its fair tbh
in europe you’ll be able to ruin the
not newegg's fault the fans died, they shouldnt have to lose money for them
either one is legally obliged to help
im sure you probably could have returned it/exchanged it
Ima contact fractal to try to get the fans replaced but we'll see how that goes i've never dealt with their support
you sure u didn’t do something wrong? fans are spinning
could be a software issue, wrongly connected?
had similar software glitches in 2018
Nah I just booted it randomly one day the the three front fans were deaD
oddly similar
oh
then ok
The same exact fan in the back is fine
That would be a real pain
Spent too long throwing it together and routing cables
Surely they would just send me some fans lol
If not I may just use the 3 spare rgb fans I have from my last case
why didnt you just get a 12600k then , you could upgrade to a 13600k which is almost as fast as the 5950x in productivity and is much faster in gaming, or even a 13700k or 13900k
7600x
yeah ik, apparently they didn’t release that 😅
also 7600 plus mobo and ram is only $420
that’s reasonable af
fr and his used 5800x is only $50 less, mobo for $20 less, and you can get 5600 cl32 32gb ddr5 for $81
so spending $70 for a 15-20% performance increase on cpu
Which motherboard for $20 less?
you can always find it cheaper
is it practical tho? is it the same condition? is it not a scam?
bro got an ok deal. You can also find them more expensive
Yea I looked pretty intensely into the am5 platform and I was gonna spend $100+ for the performance I have no lol
Ram is expensive and motherboards with a decent amount of power phases and feature rich are veryyyyy expensive
no saying you got your mobo for $20 less than a b650
much longer really, honestly if they go for two more generations with x3d cpus i could see am5 being relevant in performance for around a decade
doubt it
does amd usually have a new gen every 2 years
am4 was an exception
18 months
things are moving much quicker now
and we have much larger platform changes than ever
even the low end boards can handle high end chips just fine
And about the Intel thing I really didn’t wanna go with Intel anymore even in the used market amd always seems cheaper
chips are changing now, we will have different types of cores, ai units etc
yea but that doesnt change the cpus
with am4 it was just same old faster
a 7600 is a cpu that can pull over 200fps in most titles when not gpu bound
now we are reaching the limits of euv
Even so they don’t have the features I want
such as
2.5g lan, bios flash back, usb 3.2, and several pcie slots
they ltierally have 3 nvme slots
b650 should have that
what do you need 3 pcie slots for sli is dead
Gpu pass through
b650s are pretty feature rich even on the low end
all b650s have flashback
I OCd a lot, never ever needed it
what?
most boards have 2 bios’s
I’m on Linux and game in a windows vm
you gotta be special to kill 2 bioss
Yea
Pass through via qemu
is it that hard to restart?
What?
just restart into windows
use a nice grub theme
or if patch the games you need, most games can be made to work
I’d rather just stay in Linux
i see
Not really
yeah you can
Even with the patches various functions of the games simply won’t work
on debian for 10 years, can get most of your games working
people even got easy anti cheat working lmao
a $120 b650 board has all of these features actually
I can’t play a single cod game on Linux lol
it’s linux, all is possible
just checked in its specs and yep it does
what api does cod use?
and what anticheat
and 8 usb slots total
not api, sorry
No idea
let me tell you
I can always flip it later on and upgrade I’m just not too concerned with it rn lol
bruh, you play the only game with kernel level anti cheat
yet it’s full of cheaters
the game can run 100%, the anti cheat is the only killer
I don’t play cod it’s just an example lol
well most games can run
I can’t play valorant either which I do play
you can even make pubg work with modifications
no way, that has to run
found a guy that did it but it takes hours
kvm is better i guess
these devs need to start making limux anti cheats
Theirs just too much work involved in Linux gaming when the games work fine with pass through
idiots, their games literally run on linux, they just need to am,e the anticheat
95% of the work is done
the graphical part works 100%
you can use dxvk to convert directx to vulcan, and other games use opengl
so all you need is the anticheat
Well…you can’t run most of those games without it soooo
Yea ik lol
hopefully one day
That’s why I play on windows and need several pcie slots
if they make it work on mac it wouldn’t be hard to adapt
That board he recommended earlier doesn’t have to either so
I just dual boot, don’t play games often
Still not really an upgrade for me
Yea
Yea
I could’ve went with am5 but I for sure woulda spent $100+ on almost everytbing
I looked for 3 months at prices before I pieced this together
I mean, 5xxx is good
No motherboard had the features on am5 for this price
Yes
When I sell my Xeon workstation I might think about upgrading and using this as my second pc
Dual e5 2667 v3s
8 core CPUs for $15 a piece
not bad at all
why would you sell it?
It’s better value to keep it
cheap server > 100$
Cause they bring decent on the used market as a full build
ogh
They suck the power
how much?
fair
For what I have about $400ish
😮
48gb of ecc ram
ok then
6tb storage
No ddr4
what!?
2133MHz
that’s much newer than I imagines
I was thinking like lga2011v1
No 2011-3
Ram and CPUs are stupid cheap
You can get a 18 core 2697 for $60
with that crazy thing that raised the cpu like a transformer
that is crazy
that shit was 900$ a few years bac
trying to find the video where i first saw x99
wonder how old it is
you remember that intel transformer/starwars thing?
Intel's new Core i7 5960X Extreme Edition eight core monster of a CPU finally has a package that's befitting of its overkill-ness. Check out this unboxing of a pretty cool package that arrived this week from Intel. It includes a CPU, a motherboard, some RAM, an SSD, and... a surprise....

found it
That was soooooo cool back then, now it’s 60$ ;/
