#I upgraded my pc desk finally :)

Good upgrade
Thanks
I might replace my mouse with a wireless version next month. Would be cool to get rid of this cable
I dunno, i dont like wireless
My mouse is Glorius Model D and I like it a lot as it fits my huge hand. There is a wireless version of it. If it got identical shape it can be a good choice for me.
I tried out Logitech G Pro Wireless a few years ago and I didn't like it because it was way too small and a bit on a heavy side.
nice
I've just finished undervolting the 13600K
What is very interesting is that this cpu draws about 160W in CinebenchR23 on default. I was expecting 180-190W instead
Max semi-stable undervolting I achieved was -0.115V so I set -0.1V offset and called it a day. Power draw dropped from 160W to 140W and temperature from 85°C to 75°C
whats the gpu in the system
None
I have 2070 Super atm which is great for my 1080p setup but I didn't plug it in. At least yet.
I'm planning on selling it with my old pc and buying a new Nvidia gpu. I know prices are crazy but I need a Nvidia for their new AV1 Nvenc codec because I like to stream games
For 1080p 4070 or 4070 Ti would be great but 12 Gb is a bit concerning so I'm considering 4080 - I would upgrade monitors to 1440p next year maybe.
With 4080 I would live in peace up to 4-5 years maybe
Also: I can't finish the build this weakend because I'm waiting for a new pc case that should come on Monday.
Damn... way better idle values than my old 4790K
My room temperature is 27C and cores are just a few degrees warmer with igpu working
With Fortis 5 cooler that is a low budget one
However... there is only one weird thing abou temps. idle temps are even lower with default settings. Undervolting decreased max temp by 10C but it actually increased min temps by about 3C.
Maybe if undervolt is too aggressive, motherboard increases voltage at idle to not crash the system
So the case is Fractal Meshify 2 Lite. Inside there is:
13600k
Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X
64 Gb DDR5 5600 Mhz CL36
NVMEs:
- Kingston KC3000 2 Tb as a system drive,
- KC3000 1 Tb for files and videos,
- GoodRam PX600 2 Tb for games
BeQuiet System Power 10 750W
Gpu: 2070 Super MSI Gaming X (for now)
PC case fans are going to be upgraded soon to Arctic P14 PWM
I might add 1 led strip and set it to white later
Nice specs, new gpu when ?
When I'm not broke
Maybe next month.. will see. For now 2070S is enough for older games at 1080p
I had less than 100 fps in Far Cry 5. Now with the same card 140-180 fps
Neat
2070 Super is only a few % slower than 3060 Ti.
Ik, but its cursed having a 13600k whit a 2070
Only in gpu heavy games. In games like Far Cry it's more balanced.
Buying 4080 is a bit dumb in my case because 1080p resolution is gonna bottleneck the card. For maxing out 1080p, 4070 Ti would be perfect. However 12 Gb is a bit concerning - not for now but future
Still cursed
Why not take an amd card?
But why not get a capture card and a amd card for camping
Gaming
Or just use the 2070 for it
All of it it's additional cost.
Streaming with a single gpu is very comfy.
I don't want to have a 2nd card or capture card in the same pc. It would draw more power as well.
I'm limited to 750W afterall.
Besides I've being using GTX 1070 and 2070 Super for streaming for years and it never dissapointed me. You don't change something that works good.
If I was gaming and not streaming I wouldn't mind trying out Intel Arc or AMD. But for video editing and OBS I would rather choose Nvidia even though it's overpriced.
Thats fair
Prices are not fair though
I will wait a bit more. High-end cards are slowly dropping prices. A few weeks more and 4070 Ti or 4080 might drop price again by 50-100 Euro maybe if we will be lucky.
The cheapest 4080 that cought my attention is about $1400

European prices are nuts...
I replaced case fans with these.
*Non rgb fans
Now it's much more silent finally.
I didn't hit silicon lottery. CinebenchR23 crashes at 5.4 Ghz
P cores: 5.3 Ghz and E cores: 4.2 Ghz is stable
Oh nvm... offset sucks anyway. Fixed voltage is better
Ah nvm... 5.3 Ghz runs too hot. I can slightly undervolt the cpu at 5.2 only
It's crazy that some people are able to get 5.5 Ghz at 1.2V. I can't do even 4.4 Ghz at 1.2V
i love fractal cases tbh
I do love it as well. Wasn't convinced to white color but now I can tell it was the best decision.
Say hello to 4070 Ti
My 2070 Super vs 4070 Ti
It's unfortunate but I can't mount the holder because 1 middle hole in the mob is plugged by the case. That's the only downside of this case basically lol
So I have to buy a different one seperatly
Temporary solution:

I hate that the power plug is so far away to the left. I didn't have this problem with 2070S
Yeah I'm using the forbidden power adapter but I'm going to be fine. It's mostly 4090s that caught fire. Not 4080 or 4070Ti. I plugged the connector correctly and didn't bend the adapter too much.
The biggest downside is just the look but I don't have a modular power supply so it is what it is
If I would connect cables from the bottom it would look nicer I guess but this would force stronger bend on the adapter and this wouldn't be great.
idk..
same lol
New chair
Clean ngl
Btw. I tested Nvenc chips. I lose barely 5-10% of performance while streaming at 720p60 and recording upscaled video 1440p60 in the same time. I could record at 4K60fps as well no problem but it takes more space on a drive 🙂
It ain't perfect... but it's working. I added 5 more fans to improve airflow while still keeping low rpm
Using all cores
Lemme guess, that’s Polish I’m seeing on the right
tbh the biggest upgrade be the chair
this thread itself needs it's own movie. I enjoyed the whole story of it haha, nice
Yes 😄
Thanks. Coming from 4790K and 2070Super was quite a jump. However I'm even more happy with the desk 🙂
I would argue. Desk made the biggest difference in my opinion 🙂
But chair looks really great for sure and it got more ergo options than the previous one.
I didn't just change the desk but renovated the whole room a little bit: new bed, painted walls.
Before:
yeah, im saving my whole life to buy myself a new desk rn
Later:
Btw I did a mod for a cable holder from IKEA. I made an extension that increased distance from the desk 🙂
But... it doesn't mean that I'm good with cable management. I'm not
Well... at least there are less cables on the floor
And you don't see it anyway.
However I kinda improved it a little bit since I took this photo
do look comfy af
Definitelly better than Secretlab's when it comes to lumbar support. I appreciate the lack of racing shape. Straight, flat, simple shape is the best.
btw I sold my 2070 Super today for about 210 Euro 🙂
It was a great card for 1080p. Gonna miss it actually.
never understood bucket seat chairs
that shit is for keeping u in place around corners in cars
like
why would i want that for an office chair
ergochairs better frfr
i mean they look nice ig...?
yeah i dunno id take ur current chair over any secretlab one
screw em bucket seats
What desk is that
Im looking for one like that myself
Because my two ikea desks are both super dented
ikea moment
Ikr
You won't find it as it is a custom desk I ordered at local carpenter and I mounted it to a frame that I found in net :>
you could buy an ikea countertop
Yeah
those are way more sturdy and decently cost effective
It's oak wood, 3x170x80 cm
or buy one from home depot
I just want the wood looking one that is also strong
relative to normal ikea tabletops
check home depot for countertops then
My local IKEA doesn't have a desk with these dimensions. It had to be exactly 170 cm long and 80 cm deep
yeah the karlby is like 188cm x 65 depth
IKEA got 60 cm deep desks mostly, not 80
can confirm
Yeah I have 60 and it’s not enough
i think personally 65 depth is enough for me but more depth is nice
As I'm using 1080p monitors I wanted to increase the distance from them so 80 cm is perfect for it I think. 90 cm would be great as well.
I have this weird monitor stand that if I have it where I want it it’s uncomfortably close
It looks like the one I have
U*
have you considered wall mounting?
ah
So I won’t be doing that
ok then yeah thats horrible for you then
Yeah
well some people build backboards for their desks and mount their monitors to that
In Poland walls are made made of bricks/blocks usually so wall mounting is possible but not as simple as drilling some holes in wood probably
more or less
wood you mean paper?

gotta love north american walls
I'm not mocking american constructions. All technologies have their own prons and cons. American houses are less durable but they are more fun to mod and provide cables for sure.
The people who lived in my house before me had an unfinished basement but really wanted to sell the house so they just put a ton of plywood up
And bleached the whole place white
Depends on the age
Depends on needs and budget as well 🙂
Yeah
id imagine they're also cheaper and quicker to construct
just kinda pain when you punch the wall, you win for some reason
you'd have to be the hulk to do that in europe
my house got hollow ass walls and hollow ass interior doors
I heard that americans move from one place to another quite often - not everyone but a lot of them. If you move a few times during your lifetime it makes a lot of sense to build or buy houses that are cheaper, easier and faster to build.

Wooden house are not so bad... unless you live in a Florida or smth maybe
You need a stable weather for this stuff probably.
I found a perfect desk and it’s $500
