I am having an issue with my PC where I have got everything plugged in with a new motherboard CPU and RAM but for some reason it wont turn on. I can see lights showing on the motherboard so I know it is receiving power but just isnt responding to me pressing the power button on the case or the start button on the motherboard.

Attached is all of the power ports that I have connected on the motherboard as I understand that the 8-pin EPS under the 24pin ATX isnt necessary. I thought it was a BIOS issue because I have got a 7800X3D so I thought maybe the bios the motherboard ships doesnt support it so I manually updated the bios to the latest and I am still getting no response from the PC.

The motherboard I am using is the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero the CPU I am using is the 7800X3D and the RAM I am using is a 32GB kit of corsair vengence CL36 6000MHz

Would it be an issue with the front power switch?

#

becuase pressing start on the motherboard doesnt work either

Have you tried manually jumping the start pins?

#

Locate your motherboard’s power switch pins. They are typically marked as PWR SW or PC ON. If you can’t find them, it’s best to refer to your motherboard’s manual.
Once you’ve located the power switch pins, you need to short the negative and positive pins. You can do this by using a screwdriver or any metal object in a way that only touches the two pins and nothing else.

there was still no response from the motherboard or the PC

#

I really thought it was the BIOS issue but with the latest bios now installed I am still getting the same error

Is it getting the full power from the 24 pin connector and the CPU power connector? [need a PSU tester]

That is your boot code debug LEDs. Also do you see any smaller red or orange LEDs lit up anywhere on the board?

frigid birch
#

I am thinking it might be an issue with the CPU

You should be able to get to BIOS without CPU, which should show something on the debug LEDs. If you're getting nothing at all then Id look for damage or try swapping PSU if you can

If u already tried re plug all cables at this point try diff psu if got extra or motherboard

frigid birch
#

Give me a second I will send some photos

#

I want to avoid for now switching out any compnents as I was hoping to fix this without having the drain the loop

crude patrol
#

Ohh u have it water cooled too i feel u KEKW

Did you do a dry run test before setting up the loop?

frigid birch
#

but I couldnt find it so I just ended up adding the coolent at the end and it isnt leaking at all

acoustic grove
#

In other words, did it ever work before now?

frigid birch
#

The PSU I have had for a while and it is a reliable one

#

And worked before

crude patrol
#

Sadly man any droplet of water enough to kill anything on pc

#

I got the air pressure tool to check leaks

  1. You can do (you MUST do) a test boot without the pump running, just to make sure it boots, then turn it off once it posts
  2. New hardware =/= working hardware. ALWAYS test boot your build before adding tubes/fluid

Ohh yeah should be fine air pressure so much higher than water

acoustic grove

#

It's the watercooling equivalent of leaving the side panel off until you see it boot

frigid birch
#

Ah shit yeah should have done that

#

But is there anything that I can do more now to test

acoustic grove
#

Consider this a lesson in watercooling best practices. It's happened to the best of us. Odds are you're going to need to drain the loop and rebuild the system outside the case so you can troubleshoot

crude patrol
#

Sadly no we want u to go bare minimum to test boot it at this point

#

No 7seg display is bad

acoustic grove
#

Hell, during a recent build I had a motherboard that was functional for years just randomly die when moving the computer to another case. I didn't do a test boot until it was filled up. Only then did I discover I needed to replace the motherboard

#

One of many reasons why I tell people not to do custom loops

frigid birch
#

Yeah so this is the PC at its current state the motherboard seems to be receiving power but the 7-seg isn’t on

crude patrol
#

Dem distro plate doe

acoustic grove
#

the seg screen will only turn on once it starts booting

frigid birch
#

It doesn’t enter its boot state

crude patrol
#

The good thing tho i see light so probably its not psu

acoustic grove
#

You're gonna have to put that motherboard on a cardboard box to test it open-air

#

That's what I'd tell anyone in this position

frigid birch
crude patrol
#

Yeah feels bad man but that motherboard need to be out

frigid birch
acoustic grove
#

yep

frigid birch
crude patrol
#

Well if u see 7seg display running thats a good thing

acoustic grove
#

Or, you could not listen to us and keep randomly guessing what it could be

crude patrol
frigid birch
acoustic grove
#

Many reasons

#

Shall I go through them all?

#

You may have something lodged behind/around the motherboard that's shorting it

frigid birch
acoustic grove
#

There may be something wrong with the mobo that you can't see while it's in the case

crude patrol
#

Haha yeah just trying to confirm nothing effecting it then we confirm motherboard ded

acoustic grove
#

Moving outside the case will isolate all variables that aren't the motherboard

crude patrol
frigid birch
acoustic grove
#

Sometimes something's not setup right, and redoing it all outside the case "magically" fixes it

#

This is an extremely common troubleshooting step

frigid birch
#

Well I will try but I can imagine this is just a motherboard I will need to RMA

acoustic grove
#

It's all guesswork until you rebuild in open air

frigid birch
#

I can reuse the coolant right?

acoustic grove
#

Let us know when you've done that!

Such is life with custom loops
