#How do I fix random computer turn-offs
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Yes I am thinking power supply, but it also could be caused by something as simple as the wall plug you are using to power the pc. Can I get full specs, and can you try the wall plug on something else for a while?
Yes sure
So the specs are,
Ryzen 7 5700x
32gb DDR4 3200mhz ram
Gigabyte RX 6750xt
Gigabyte p750gm V2 750 watt psu
B550 Aorus elite ax V2 motherboard
1tb kioxia gen 3 ssd
Also slight issue. I'm having to use an extension cable for it due to the PSU cable being around half a meter too short from the wall
Tho I could swap it around to the other socket and see if that helps
Yeah try it
Just to rule out the possibility of that being the outlet that is failing
Because you should be fine with your PSU
I had this happen to me with my RX 6700 XT and undervolting the GPU stopped it from randomy shutting off
alr ig undervolting will also lower temps a bit so bonus
Is it shutting off or hard restarting?
On mine my MB was causing huge VRAM spikes which caused hard restarts. [x570s and 6900xt]
Sounds like overcurrent protection to me
hmmm interesting
PSU seems fine for this build though, no?
I'd have thought memory problems but then OP said it's a shut down, not a restart so.. I'm thinking power problem as well.
Yeah I'd have thought so.... @west spruce can you take some screenshots of your errors and criticals from event viewer? Also do you have any files in C:\Windows\Minidump
Do you play valorant
why?
so those critical only happened latest of 31/05/2023
pc shut off on the 2/06/2023
many errors in past 7 days xD
With the errors, can you show which are the most frequent?
If you go into custom view > administrative blahblah you should be able to get more info on this
I'm willing to bet undervolting the GPU would fix it
Certainly worth a try, but why is it betworthy?
experience. I faced the EXACT same thing a couple months ago. My machine would only shut down when I'm gaming and it drove me crazy for a couple weeks....until someone else told me to undervolt the GPU. So I did, and haven't had that shutdown problem since. They even suggested I check out a Jayz2Centz video and an LTT video about it
I would. it was one of those things I never forgot ever since then.
That's the meaning of anecdotal. Just because it happened to you doesn't mean it's important you doofus.
oh now we're name-calling?
It could be, but we don't know yet.
It seemed appropriate to get your attention.
How much would you bet on this?
I'm willing to bet $50 on it
Does your build match OP's?
I mean, it's something worth exploring.
I didn't mean to start a fight tbh, sorry @delicate moon
OP, i'm having the same issues as you. I'll be in the middle of a game with friends, and my display will turn off. My audio will still work, for about 10-15 seconds before my computer fully restarts.
Interesting
I undervolted my gpu and it doesnt seem to crash
Yh only difference is mine just turns off audio and all
I undervolted by only 25mv but should be ok
Did you purchase your psu brand new?
I did from Amazon, it was brand new
Yeah we're in the same boat with this issue. The undervolting should help though. Sometimes my settings get reset and it'll cause a crash. I just have to make sure my profile is saved in my gpu settings. I'm planning on replacing the power supply in the near future, but i don't think it'll fix it
Yh it does reset sometimes. And yh my power supply may need to be replaced, it is prone for being....less than reliable sometimes. Not for me tho currently
Do you have resizeable bar and above 4g decoding disabled in BIOS? If not, disable them. This is what fixed it for me.
