Bought 2 micro sd cards, both are not recognized.
Picture of the sd and the camera.

When i tried the sd into my laptop it said that its write protected, is that why?

do you use an adapter?

#

if you use an adapter it could be the cause 🤔

#

since that has a slider which allows read only / write access..

I searched for the documentation and in FAQ says this

#

Q:Why the device cannot identify SD card?
A:It is recommended to insert and remove the SD card after power off the device. Check if the SD card is
under normal service conditions and the format is FAT32. The App shall suggest ""could not find SD card""
under unstable network of the mobile phone or the device.

Sometimes it has a slider which puts it in read only

lapis urchin

I disabled the slider

My first guess was gonna be what elpeque mentioned - It likely is expecting a very specific format (FAT32 in this case). Cameras and computers are smart enough to reformat, but often simpler products aren't capable of doing that

lapis urchin
#

and still, write protected, I tried like 4 methods to disable the write proteciton, still no

steady drum

Show the adapter?

lapis urchin
#

tried it both ways

#

still "write protected"

restive grail
#

Did you reformat to FAT32 on your computer?

lapis urchin
#

Used software, tried regedit, tried cmd, tried another software

#

cannot reformat because of the write protection

#

for some reason, one of the cards is fat32

restive grail
#

Do you have another adapter to try?

lapis urchin
#

no

Sometimes those switches can get stuck

lapis urchin
#

also, I tried on a old laptop ~2015

steady drum
#

Yeah would say get a different adapter

#

Might change the world

#

And are not as expensive at all

lapis urchin
#

Also, I did not power off the camera when I inserted the SD

steady drum
#

Yeah got a different adapter?

lapis urchin
#

I'll ask some people

Thats write protected which is when the switch is pointing towards the arrow

#

i had an old 2gb sd card and it didnt get detected until i reseated the card

try reseating the sd card on the adapter

If your phone has an SD slot you can read the card there

I'd bet that the camera simply ain't compatible with that capacity of SD card.

SD cards are divided into groups.

SD = Up to 2GB
SDHC = Over 2GB up to 32GB
SDXC = Over 32 up to 2TB
SDUC = Over 2Tb up to 128TB (pretty sure there are no SDUC chips currently on the market)

This means the "Micro SD slot with maximum capacity of 128GB" statement is nonsensical, in order to support 128Gb it needs to support SDXC. If it supports SDXC it would have a maximum capacity of 2TB not 128GB.

TL;DR probably only supports SD cards of 32GB and lower.

Got a different adapter

#

And ill try again to format the sd card

#

What would be the best/fastest option to format the sd card to fat32? @everyone

I tried everything

keen iris
lapis urchin
#

Yes with different adaptor

#

I dunno why, but one of the 2 sd cards is already in fat32

#

And still write protected

keen iris
#

DId you tried what Phenix said? With a smaller card? 32 for example

#

or 64

lapis urchin
#

I dont have a smaller one

#

The guy im trying to fix it bought 2 x 128 gb

#

For two security cameras

keen iris
#

In other pc? Says the same, write protected?

lapis urchin
#

Dont have different laptop

keen iris
#

Your phone?

lapis urchin
#

Doesnt have slot

😢

lapis urchin

My head hurts so bad

keen iris

I'm sorry by the fact that I can´t help you T_T

#

Try to search for that issue on reddit

lapis urchin
#

Yea well there isnt really anything to be helped with

lapis urchin
#

Should i buy a differend sd card?

#

And also what size is best for a security camera

lapis urchin
#

The problem has been solved, apparently it worked just by powering off the device, then inserting the sd cards, also the format of one of them was not fat32, and it still worked, no idea. Thank you all!

New problem‼️: The security camera owner called me and told me that he can only rewind 1 day, why is that

sounds like something the manual could answer
