hey ppl, I just got a new graphics for a budget system I got my gf, its a rx580 and I just changed the termal paste on it cause before if I had the lid of the case closed it would just black out, even tho the card was showing like 76° and I thought it would improve but now its peaking at 85° and I got some artifacts while stressing it on certain shades of color like static.
did I make it worse cause I didnt change the thermal pads? I saw plenty of videos of ppl using the same ones they had and did I kill my card with the artifacts? or will they disappear?
#Change of thermal paste made my graphics card hotter?

Depends on how well its tightened up back again
I tried getting it like snug but I didnt get it as tight as I could
Well thats why 🤷♂️ your temp are worse
if its not making proper contact its going to be worse in temp wise, ask somebody if you cannot get it properly back on
Because breaking can only be done once 😦
Like jasper said, if you don't do it all the way your mounting pressure won't be enough, it's designed to be screwed down all the way. There are stoppers preventing you from overtightening so no need to worry. Make sure the thermal paste is also spread out. It's probably just a blob in the middle of the die which isn't what you want.
I just tried reapplying the thermal paste (it looked good to begin with but did it again anyway) got it as tight as I could but temps are still around 85° at which point I start getting artifacts, Im guessing it is a problem with the pads?
did you replace just the die or also the pads?
Just the die
