wipe the drive that has bitlocker on it, then it will work as normal
theres still some data on the drive that i'd like to retrieve
you have bitlocker on the drive, its made for anti theft, since you "stole" the drive by taking it out, it requires a password when you put it back in.
if you dont have that password then thats on you, wipe the drive or just leave it there
Is there anywhere on the original laptop i can find this key? the problem is that even if i put the drive back in its original computer its still locked
they key is a long password saved on your pc if you didnt save the backup codes thats your fault, you could have also turned off bitlocker before removing the drive so you dont even need a key in the futyre
where can i find this password that is saved on my pc
ive looked online and it just says that its on my microseoft account which it is not
go into windows, type bootlocker and then look at your keys
its only there if you turned on bitlocker WITH your microsoft account
ive never turned on bitlocker myself it must have just been on my default because it's a corperate laptop
is it possible that i can also find it in the bios
or registry?
you can find it in these locations if you have done them:
your usb with recovery key on it
a printout of your recovery key
In a work or school account that turned on bitlocker
the system administrator that turned on bitlocker
