#Help! Graphical Glitches/Graphic Artifacts on new GPU!
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I just got my new rx 6650xt a week ago, had no issues whatsoever until i downloaded and played forza for an hour yesterday.
Ever since then i've been getting glitches in terrain like in the image above
In other games as well.
alright thanks for ur input
what i find odd is that it only started happening after i ran forza, other games were all fine before
maybe i pushed my hdd too far lol
That might actually what make it worse
the game tries to load file in bad sector
and just derp itself
Try to run a disk health check or SMART test
RAM!
this is almost certainly a ram issue
@prime jolt press windows + R then type "mdsched" and hit enter
then press restart now and run check
it may not look like a ram issue, but issues like this are almost always issues with ram
This was not the case, did the test and no issues
so i'm going to assume its a hard drive problem then
i wouldn't think harddrive issue, but based on how you say its dying good idea to test it anyways
you can check smart info
by opening performance monitor
data collector sets > system >system diagnostics
right click and press start
then go to report >
system > system diagnostics
and the one with your computer name
I have already tried testing using some software i forgot, and it said that the health was "caution" and that it had 100 reallocated spaces
there is more info than that needed
ok thats not good
but wouldn't cause that
you should still backup all your stuff somewhere though
i dont have anything important
im running this rn
you have restarted your computer already?
yeah multiple times
also tried older gpu driver version
alright thanks
any ideas what else could?
ram still may be the cause as this is the cause in 99% of all cases of this happening
has any random crashes of anything happened recently since this started?
yikes
i dont know any gpu ram testing programs, and there is none built into windows
so i am researching that rn
it may take a min
@prime jolt are you overclocking your gpu at all?
do you have a nvidia or amd gpu?
nvm mb
this is almost certainly a hardware issue though
@prime jolt
https://www.ocbase.com/download
download this application, run it
on the left bar click test
then click vram
select your gpu
keep everything at default and press the start button at the bottom
it will give you a message to subscribe to their patreon, wait a few seconds then you can press continue
leave that running in the background for a few minutes without any games open and let me know if there are any errors
Ocbase is the home of OCCT, the most popular all-in-one stability / stress testing / benchmarking / monitoring tool available for PC
all seems good after 8 minutes
cycle #6
someone is recommending i update bios?
do any of the affected games small enough to fit into your ssd?
I still highly suspect the bad game drive
i only have 10gb free on my ssd so sadly not
sad
someone told me to try changing these settings?
idk what it does exactly or what to do
those are "virtual memory"
it wont change anything for the problem youre currently having
im getting other graphical artifacts in a new game now such as flickers
Tomorrow i will try reseating my GPU and checking all the cables, maybe even try a different hdmi cable.
I'll get a new SSD later to replace my dying HDD
bake it
wdym
I just used AMD's stress test and it artifacts/glitches at high gpu/vram clockspeeds
Even when the temps are low
put it in the oven
it could melt the solder
and hopefully the solder will be where it’s supposed to be
Vram is dying
Shit outta luck
And don’t cook your gpu as anthrew suggested, that will only make it worse
Unless you are a master solderer and can replace the vram yourself you are gonna need a new gpu unless it’s in warranty
I have returned it, it was only 4 days old new
as in RMA
Yeah that was a bad card
my fault
I thought it was a older card
💀💀
