#Very high ping no matter what I do, spectrum is no help

I've been having very high ping lately for unknown reasons. I ensured no one in the home was clogging the bandwidth, and they're not. The issue began yesterday, and was particularly bad in the afternoon, but it subsided in the evening. Now it's back to being terrible, getting upwards of 500ms while not even doing anything on my pc. It jumps between 200-500 and sometimes goes down to 30ms before quickly jumping back up. I pinged some servers with tracert (attached images here but realized it leaked my ip so take my word for it) and around hop 4-6 is where i get request timed out where it would normally ping spectrum. Any idea what's causing this? Is this a spectrum server issue?

Currently on a discord call and even here, my ping is jumping from 50 to 300 repeatedly

#

My download and upload speed seem unaffected, it's just a ping issue, which is why im thinking this is some server issue that I can't fix. Is this the case?

Upstream issue, if hops 1 to 4 are good.

Not sure if 4 would be considered good

#

Here's a gameserver i pinged, similar results

It might be within your ISP and their network but it's definitely not an issue local to you

#

Unless those spectrum hops are within your local network

#

Prob nothing you can do

its my ip at the end of each of those hops 2-7, is that what ur referring to?

nah I mean... I have no idea what your local network situation is

#

at my work, my local network extends through several routers & servers, then goes to an offsite network, then it goes to the US... so all my web browsing at work is slow as hell

#

if you're a typical at-home setup with a basic wifi-router thing then there's probably 1 hop then straight to WAN

#

if the ping starts on the first hop out, then it could have been an issue with the wiring between your home and the nearest exchange

Ah gotcha I understand
