Well from the title you only mention using Cru, why are you not able to with adrenaline?

adrenaline custom resolutions never work

even on my other CRT monitors

but for the CRT TV neither seems to work

i would just delete all the resolutions and leave 240p and it worked

Could be a driver related issue. Did you use DDU when switching over to AMD?

Have you uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" ?
